Book Description

A Little Misunderstanding. . .

Kit, the Marquis of Ashton, is in a sticky wicket. He married young and for love—how naïve. He discovered his mistake the very day of his wedding, but he is saddled now with a wife he's reluctant to trust. And however much evidence he gathers against faithless Jess, he can't seem to prove her guilt to the final judge—his foolish heart.

Jessica knows she's bobbled her marriage, however innocently. A fairytale wedding makes no difference if she hasn't got the marquis charmed to show for it. Well, she's had enough of accidental encounters with naked gentlemen and near misses explaining things to her husband. It's time to buck up and go win her man back—even if she has to fight very dirty indeed.

"Great fun." —Publishers Weekly

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing - 2.5 stars March 4, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
To be fair, I knew I wasn't going to love this book but I still pre-ordered it. I'd read the other 2 and knew that this H had been estranged from his wife for 8 years. I know that the premise was one GIGANTIC misunderstanding but I think the author expected us to make too much of a leap. Many books would not have been written if the protagonists had just had one good conversation, this one made me wonder how on earth they had managed to avoid the conversation. There were humorous moments but I actually cried (not sure I was supposed to) for all the harm done to the h. She truly was left to rot and is treated appallingly by others and all because of the H's pride.

+++Spoilers+++
The resolution came extremely late in the book and I was left thinking that if the H could hold a grudge over what he thought he saw for 8 years, then it didn't bode well for true misunderstandings/fights that would occur during the rest of their marriage.

Not a wonderful book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing March 4, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
The characters did not engage me. Lord Ashton did not see his wife for eight years, even with a nagging, interfering mother who absolutely cows him into submission. Sure he has reasons to doubt his wife but why not sit down and have a heart-to-heart chat and clear the air? Oh yes, then there would be no plot. Jessica also plays cat and mouse with secrets that are best shared with her husband. Add to the main characters being disappointing and then we have the in-town butler who finds it perfectly “okay” to make lascivious innuendos about the romantic activity of the hero and heroine. (This in any regency household would be an offense for dismissal.) The dialog often felt too modern for the period.
I cannot recommend this book.
I received this book free for review from the publisher.

2.0 out of 5 stars 2.5 stars March 11, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
** I received a copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased and honest review**

Review: 2.5 stars
General: I thought this book had a very unique and different concept than any romance I've read before. I loved the situation the two were in and it drew me in immediately. There were certainly some elements that I found ridiculous - painting the gay staff for one. But as I read I realized this book was meant to be a bit more lighthearted and fun and then it didn't bother me as much. The characters had a decent backing and the plot itself was fantastic. However, I would unfortunately mark this one as unsuccessful in more ways than successful given how long it is. While the book wasn't bad, I wouldn't say it's something I would recommend

Also, I felt the interactions between the characters was good, but too modern in many aspects. I love regency romance and understand it is harder to write but wish it could have been infused a bit better. I truly enjoyed the overall plot of the book and the humor but I felt with the execution falling short this one was not a favorite of mine.

Characters: Jess- Jess was the doer in this book. She is the one that initiated everything. However I find her to be a bit to fanciful for my liking.
Kit- Kit annoyed the heck out of me. He held a grudge for 8 years without once trying to fix things. I do appreciate that he didn't dally around - but that also made it feel out of time frame with how men behaved even while married and happy in the regency era. He was stubborn to a fault and yet his humor still won me over about halfway through.

1.0 out of 5 stars AWFUL! March 4, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Loving Lord Ash is the last of Mackenzie's Duchess of Love series. The first 2 books and the prequel were fun reads. This one is not. Mackenzie re-hashed a few of her old plot devices in a horrible mishmash of a modern voice lost in the regency era.
To summarize, Lord Ash and his wife have been married for 8 years. He thinks she had sex with another man before their marriage but married her anyway. He leaves her for 8 years and she has a reputation as a slut who has slept with hundreds. He has the reputation of being a rake sleeping his way through the Ton. Both are virgins. She paints nudes of the all gay male staff of her manor house....Any one want to read anymore? That is just the first chapter. It doesn't get any better. The only good part of the book is the dog. Kit or Fluff the dog is a giant monster of a dog (often mistaken for a pony) who is pictured on the book's cover as a small terrier. For Mackenzie books worth reading featuring a female artist who paints nude men, read any of the Naked novels with the Parker-Roths. I had to give it one star to post the review. But it deserves to be starless.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the best book by Ms. MacKenzie June 29, 2014
By SFC
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I always like to read this author as she does have wit and intelligence and her stories make me laugh (sadly, sometimes because the hero walks around all day and night with an erection- sometimes I wonder how the man functions at all) but this one fell short.
I didn't like the fact that the hero was a virgin at age 30- seemed totally unrealistic for then and now and I didn't like that he left his wife in the country for 8 years and never came to check on her or anything but as soon as he was in her presence, he was all hot and bothered and oh, yes, erect, from that page on.

The heroine seemed way too conveniently accident prone as well - what with the dropping the soap across the room and falling into naked men everywhere. This whole book strained credulity.
