This review is from: Loving More: The Polyfidelity Primer (Paperback)
The world has moved along. This book focuses on a small segment of a bigger chunk of the more general lifestyle called polyamory. It's an interesting period piece, but generally a tired old artifact.
I remember this book. I bought it from the authors. I threw it across the room when I saw on a page, in big black letters, "POLYFIDELITY IS AIDS-SAFE!!"
Polyfidelity is roughly as "AIDS-safe" as is monogamy -- and we all know how well THAT is working out.
That air of self-congratulatory smugness permeates the book, though never quite so blatantly.
And the primary author has since switched her allegiance from polyfidelity (closed relationship with no outside intimate contacts) to polyamory (outside intimate relationships OK).
In hindsight, I can't say that the book is particularly helpful for people who are looking for help in making the polyfi lifestyle work. At best, it's inspirational to read about other people who seem to have done it -- for a few years, anyway.
