Editorial Reviews

"Sometimes a girl just needs a fully-loaded love story, but that comforts the entire way through. Plenty of angst and heartache, and lessons in life and love. But most of all, that feeling of togetherness, when all you thought you had was alone. 5 stars of happiness!"
-Maryse's Book Blog
"This is the kind of story that stays in your heart long after you've finished reading it. Brittainy C. Cherry has written a stunning novel and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next!"
-Aestas Book Blog
"Loving Mr. Daniels was incredibly passionate and powerful; a story I will truly never forget."

More About the Author

Brittainy Cherry has been in love with words since the day she took her first breath. She graduated from Carroll University with a Bachelors Degree in Theatre Arts and a minor in Creative Writing. She loves to take part in writing screenplays, acting, and dancing--poorly of course. Coffee, chai tea, and wine are three things that she thinks every person should partake in! Brittainy lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with her family. When she's not running a million errands and crafting stories, she's probably playing with her adorable pets.

"I want to be yours, I want you to be mind, and I hate that we can't be us. Because I think we were meant to be us."

This is a brilliantly, bittersweet book that will take your breath away.

I have never laughed and cried so much in one sitting. This book was full of grief and pain and at the same time I grinned and laughed with every other turn of the page. It gave my heart whiplash!

Every word I could use to describe this book would contradict another aspect of the story - dark, yet happy; thrilling, yet depressing; heartbreaking, yet funny; simple, yet complex; familiar, yet refreshing... this book is all of these things, but most importantly it is memorable, powerful, and moving.

I secretly enjoy student/teacher romances. Ok, it's not a secret... I love them. That being said, this book is so much more than just a student/teacher romance. There are so many layers that are slowly pulled back as the story moves forward. By itself it was absolutely amazing, but the best part of this book was the characters. Our main two characters, Ashlyn and Daniel, really touched my heart. They were two broken people that had suffered so much, and found solace and healing in each other forming an unbreakable bond. The relationship between Ashlyn and Daniel was a rare, honest love, and I ached for them and the circumstances that made their relationship wrong. All of the characters had so much depth, and were written so well that I felt they were a part of me. They were quirky, relatable, and impossible not to fall in love with... even the secondary characters added important elements to this story as they broke through the pages to tell their own story.

I don't want to compare Brittainy C.

I was pretty excited to read Loving Mr. Daniels, not only because of its very lovely cover but also because one; I have a huge love for student/teacher romances and two; a lot of the bloggers I follow seem to have enjoyed it so I decided to give it a try. End result? A very confused Louisse.

If there's one thing I absolutely hate when it comes to books, it's insta-love. The whole "love at first sight" bit just doesn't do it for me. I mean seriously, what if the guy/girl you instantaneously fell in love with has some kind of quirk you absolutely hate? And there's really nothing romantic about insta-love. Which is why it was really difficult for me to thoroughly enjoy this book, the way Ashlyn and Daniel connected so easily seriously peeved me. But, yes there is a but, I did enjoy the banter and quips between Ashlyn and Daniel. Their chemistry was palpable and as the story goes on, you do see an authenticity to their relationship.

It took me a while to like Ashlyn as a heroine because there were times she was just too self-centered. She always mentions her sister's death, always tries to make a deal out of things and is whiny. Period. And she was super confusing and indecisive in general. Still kinda annoys me when I think about it. However, on the flip side, Ashlyn was an intuitive person, she was intelligent and gave as good as she got. I wish that Brittainy Cherry took more time to really shape Ashlyn's character because she had so much potential to be someone great but in the end, just fell flat.

Mr. Daniels (full name: Daniel Daniels, I pity the guy) was kind of "ehhhh" for me. Sure he was hot and had insanely beautiful blue eyes, as Ashlyn never fails to mention, and was super witty; but like Ashyln, he fell flat.

5 Coping with Real Life * * * * *

This is an experience... overwhelming, intense and so heartfelt. There are moments which will make you stop and just absorb it all... because of the quirky beauty and then the deep, slicing pain. If I sound a little overly dramatic with this book, it's because I never was a bystander. What do I mean by that? It's when you are reading and kinda going through the motions; you are there ... and then you drift away... maybe go and fix a little snack... talk on the phone with a friend or check your email. You're not fully invested. This read demands you tuck in and give yourself over to it from the start. If you don't, it will be your loss.

There is so much covered in this book; the use of a teacher and older student is the least of the things it's about in my opinion. It focuses on sibling and parental loss; the undercurrent of blame and how it can be destructive in so many ways. Bullying, sexual orientation and acceptance are also addressed.

But mostly right next to all of these deep issues which cause unbearable pain for those in it...this story gives us pure and staggering love... first love and sibling love ...
The rush we feel with this first love and way it is nourished and blossoms is beyond any description I can give will wash over you as you read how it happens; tentative steps all done against the artistry of Shakespeare. This first love is also teamed with the love of sisters with a special bond only twins can have.

So, this tale is chocked full of thought proving ideas... and it kills me not to go into all of them... but then I would be telling you this story instead of you experiencing it as I did... which was primarily going into it blind. I will share all of the characters were so well crafted...
