5.0 out of 5 stars Easy, Delicious and Healthy
If you're thinking that cooking healthy is hard, be sure to check out this cookbook! Each dish has 3 ingredients, is tasty and is very good for you.

First, the variety. People who complain that low carbing is boring haven't taken a look at this cookbook. You get Pan Seared Rib-eye with Agurula. There's pot-roasted turkey with smokey onions. How about broccoli...

1.0 out of 5 stars Disapointed
I have been a low carber for years and have lots of low carb cookbooks and I have to say that this book was disapointing. The recipes are things I've already seen or won't make. Some of the carb counts were pretty high too. If you have other low Carb cookbooks you probobly don't need this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy, Delicious and Healthy, March 21, 2005
This review is from: Low Carb 1-2-3: 225 Simply Great 3-Ingredient Recipes (Paperback)

How about broccoli smothered in wine and olive oil?

These dishes are NOT hard. As I said, they all involve just three main ingredients. Some might open your horizons a bit - for example I *love* snow peas, but I know people who have never tried them. I also love pine nuts! They are quite good for you and tasty too. All of these things can be found at your average supermarket, and once you realize the wealth of healthy foods that you like, your menu planning gets more and more interesting.

Each recipe comes with the total carbs, the fiber, fat, saturated fat, protein, calories, and more - so even if you're not low carbing, you can see just how healthy in ALL ways these dishes are. The author feels strongly that eating healthy is about watching all of the problem areas and finding dishes that are fresh, healthy, nutritious and low in harmful items.

My one complaint with this book is that there are no photos of dishes. I LOVE photos to help me get an idea of what a dish is all about.

Even so, I highly recommend this cookbook. It covers everything from breakfasts to desserts, from drinks to appetizers for parties and main dishes. You can easily eat this way every day for years and never get bored - and amaze your friends and family with delicious, healthy dishes.

Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars one of the best cookbooks out there - low carb or otherwise, April 14, 2005
By
This review is from: Low Carb 1-2-3: 225 Simply Great 3-Ingredient Recipes (Paperback)
I have always been skeptical of Rozanne Gold's 1-2-3 approach, thinking three ingredients couldn't possibly yield the kind of results I expect. Boy, was I wrong. The recipes in this book are terrific and jam-packed full of flavor. Among those I have tried are: the Pecan-Crusted Chicken Breasts (intensely flavored and incredibly good - hot or cold), the Miso-Glazed Chicken Breasts (yummy), the Salmon Steaks with Cornichon Vinaigrette (lovely), the Green Beans with Pesto and Walnuts (great), "Creamed" Spinach (my husband repeatedly asks for it), the Sauteed Grape Tomeatoes with Shallots (delish), and Smokey Joe Burgers (nice twist for burgers). I use this book at least once a week.

The astonishment here is that these splendidly simple-to-make dishes are not only healthful but good to look at when served and quite a number of them have gourmet quality taste. We've tried about a half dozen dishes and they were all keepers. I'm sure we'll find some that are less than first class dining experiences, but so far the author is batting 1000.

I love the tastes and textures used in the recipes. The only drawback is how complicated (as in time consuming) some of the recipes are. With three ingredients each, I expected recipes I could quickly whip up. Some are, but some aren't.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you like to spend a lot of time cooking, this book IS NOT for you, March 23, 2007

I ordered several low carb cookbooks when I decided to start preparing more food at home, and this is the only one I use. I don't have a lot of time to spend preparing or even shopping for my food, and the 3-ingredient recipes really keep things simple. No more going to the store to buy all those exotic ingredients you will never use again.

There is also a handy shopping list of ingredients to have in your cupboard each week - I didn't even have garlic in mine - that make shopping without a meal plan do-able.

The other thing I like about this cookbook, is that everything I make tastes great. And for me, that's saying something. My sister was astonished that I am cooking at all, and when I prepared the fantastic asparagus with fried capers at her house - from memory, with ingredients she had on hand - she immediately bought her own copy.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to control the carbs in their diet by cooking tasty food at home, but who doesn't have the time, skill or inclination to learn more complex cooking methods.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous, January 22, 2005

After a New Years resolution to get serious about losing weight I searched far and wide for a book as terrific as this. It makes it so easy to change the way I eat. The recipies are simple and healthful... it doesn't seem as though I am dieting... and the food tastes great. Its incredible how well Low Carb 1-2-3 meshes with the new Federal Dietary Guidelines. There is a lot of just plain common sense here... and nothing that non-dieters won't enjoy as well which makes it perfect for both those who are and those who dare not dieting who share a table. Congratulations to Rozanne Gold!

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended - not to be missed, January 16, 2005
This review is from: Low Carb 1-2-3: 225 Simply Great 3-Ingredient Recipes (Paperback)
As a novice at cooking I found the book very helpful. The fact that I only need so few ingridients, make it more likely for me to actually try many of the recepies. I tried two dishes already and they are delicious and simple to make. The best part about it is knowing that it is healthy eating. If you are going to own one cook book - this is it. Bon Apetit!
