5.0 out of 5 stars This Soundtrack Was Under The Radar
This soundtrack was very good, this CD was like what I mention on the Poetic Justice soundtrack. This soundtrack had some star power with artists in hitting or in their prime like Zhane', Silk, Changing Faces, Aaliyah, Tevin Campbell, Hi-Five, & Silk. R-Kelly came with it in one of his best remixes ever of "Homie Lover Friend" with the late Aaliyah singing in the...

3.0 out of 5 stars A Low Down Dirty Shame: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Pretty good. Just bought it because I wanted "The Thing I like". Great song by the best--R. Kelly & Aaliyah. The dynamic duo. Two great talents. A fan of both. I love Homie, Lover Friend--Remix. It's hot. I did not care too much for the song on his album, but this remix is hot. Great for marrieds who want to be intimate.

R-Kelly came with it in one of his best remixes ever of "Homie Lover Friend" with the late Aaliyah singing in the background. Smooth sexy self come in with "Ghetto Style". Also let me not forget some of the underrated rappers from the Big 'O' like Souls of Mischief & Casual who came with it on this soundtrack. Also U.G.K. gave us the radio version of the classic hit "Front, Back, Side to Side", and Mz. Kilo wraps it up on here but her song was not better than the one on Menace II Society soundtrack. Nuttin' Nyce most recognized song "Down 4 Whatever" is featured on here along with newcomer Raja-Nee's cut "Turn It Up". This soundtrack should have gotten more pub but this was during a time when a lot of things were really starting to pop back in late '94 & early '95. Great soundtrack.

The real low down dirty shame is that more people don't know about how great this album is. This soundtrack is easily one of the best compilations of R&B music to have been released during the 90's.

Upbeat tracks to keep your head nodding include the irresistible "Thing I Like" by Aaliyah, and "Down 4 Whateva" by Nuttin' Nyce. If you miss early 90's Mary J Blige and TLC, these tracks will put a smile on your face. "I Can Go Deep" by Silk (of "Lose Control" fame) and "Stroke You Up" by Changing Faces are the very definition of Baby-Making Music.

While the R&B tracks alone earn this soundtrack five stars, the rap cut are also nice inclusions. Fans of vintage Def Squad will be thankful for the trio cut by Keith Murray, Redman, and the Green Eyed Bandit known as Erick Sermon. The best track on this album that makes the soundtrack a hidden gem is "Front, Back and Side to Side" by UGK. Bun-B proves why he's one of the most lyrical artists from Texas, and Pimp-C flows over a ridiculous organ-driven beat. Anyone who enjoys early 90's rap or classic R&B from the H-Town/Silk era will love this soundtrack.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very underrated soundtrack, December 24, 2007
By
This review is from: A Low Down Dirty Shame: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
This was, as I said in the title, a very underrated soundtrack. It fits because the film itself was a very underrated action/comedy.

Anyway, it isn't a 5 star collection by any means but it is good to listen too. Also, its quirky style fits the film to a tee (which is rare these days for soundtracks to fit films as they are mostly fillers).

The producers of this soundtrack should have won album of the year for the mellow cuts that they chose to go on this CD. Everything that I heard I enjoyed and I highly recommend this CD.
