3.0 out of 5 stars CD by Ernie and the Automatics
The CD Low Expectations by Ernie and the Automatics was OK at best. I expected more music like the band, Boston since its members were former Boston musicians. The music was more blues and somewhat jazz. Worth listening too if you like that kind of music.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected, August 21, 2009
This review is from: Low Expectations (Audio CD)
I was looking for a rock group like the Cars and thought that Ernie and the Automatics was that type of group. When I listened to some songs quickly realized that they were instead a Blues rock group like BB KIng, Muddy Waters, and Derek Truck. Wow was I surprised and pleased. There are a million rock groups out there that are Ok but there is only one group that can play the blues with a updated beat that really is great. That group is Ernie and the Automatics. Once I listened, I bought it. I am not disappointed with this great Blues Rock band.

5.0 out of 5 stars Click BUY, April 16, 2009

>>The Boston album makes you believe that the original band included Barry and Sib. >>Which it did not.

So what? If you went to see the band live "back in the day" you saw Barry and Sib. And they sounded great by the way - but what does that have to do with THIS CD?

I initially bought LOW EXPECTATIONS because I'm a big Goudreau fan - always have been. I've never been keen on the "blues" but Goudreau's guitar on this CD spices the blues up enough that it kept my interest long enough for me to become a blues convert. It gritty vocals and sax in some places, and silky smooth BG guitar in others - all in just the right proportions.

Get the CD. Even if you're just remotely considering it - go ahead and click the "BUY NOW" button. You'll be glad you did regardless of WHO or WHO DIDN'T play on the BOSTON albums.

5.0 out of 5 stars great small combo, April 4, 2009

This is an excellent album with inovative, original tunes, and a small group of musicians who are the best! If you look carefully at the names of the participants in the various numbers, you will see one selection has Willie Archibald on trumpet. This is the 16 year old son of Tim and he's already close to being a professional musician like his dad. You can't go wrong in purchasing this fine album.

Ok, here comes Ernie And The Automatics. They claim to be part of the muti million selling group Boston. Barry Goudreau on guitar and Sib Hashian on drums, never appeared on the debut album of Boston. The Boston album makes you believe that the original band included Barry and Sib.
Which it did not. This was all a record company sham to make you believe that Boston was a real group at the time of the records release. The original Boston Album was actually a demo made by Tom Scholz, Brad Delp, and Jim Masdea. Ernie And The Automatics is led by Ernie Boch Jr. Who is a Boston based blues legend. He has surrounded himself with great musicians from the Boston area to play good blues rock. YAWN
