I think it's a great starter for people interested in some alternative diets (okay vegan/vegetarian isn't exactly 'alternative'! but it's got some great information if you're interested in the history behind a veggie-diet and some totally awesome recipes for those veggie-lovers out there who are also in-need of a gluten-free diet. My favourite? The chickpea salad, and the gluten-free chocolate chip cookies. The recipes are basic, yes, but it also has a section for alternative ingredients- so you can adapt recipes you find in other cookbooks!) it also touches on health-concerns that can arise from an veg diet- this is important, because a lot of people just think they can go veg without any thought and be fine...and end up with some nutrition deficiencies.
The paleo section also has some pretty good stuff- it mentions how to stick to the diet at restaurants, which seems to be a problem for some people I've met who are on the paleo diet. What to eat, what to not eat, and offers a pretty basic meal plan as a guide.
Totally recommending this one.
