Greatest boot I have worn to date.,
This review is from: Lowa Men's Khumbu Mid GTX Trekking Boot (Apparel)
I have owned a few hiking boots in my day, Hi-Tec to Vasque, and these are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. It does not feel like you are wearing your typical backpacking boot. I love them and would recommend them to anyone.

Khumbu Mid GHX boots save the day,
This review is from: Lowa Men's Khumbu Mid GTX Trekking Boot (Apparel)
Sitting in the New Delhi airport lounge waiting to board the next plane towards Nepal and my dream of hiking the Annapurnna Circuit I had suddenly had a horrible realization. My brother was asking how I was able to fit my boots into my backpack with all the other gear we needed, it was then when it finally occurred to me that my boots were still sitting at home in Canada in my hall closet. Knowing how finicky my feet are at breaking in a new pair of boots, my heart sank and visions of constant blisters and sore spots instantly took over my thoughts about the trek ahead.
Lowa to the rescue! Amid the teeming masses of fake gear in Kathmandu I finally found the authorized Lowa dealer where I picked up myself a pair of Khumbu Mid GTX boots. I decided to try them around town for a few days to break them in. Instantly I was impressed by the high quality of the boots, the seams were strong, materials were top notch, and the fit was beyond my expectations. Not a single hot spot or pressure point. Out on the Annapurnna Circuit the Khumbu's easily dealt with anything mother nature could throw at them. Hot 40c degree days... no problem thanks to the breathable GoreTex lining. Days on end of heavy rain... once again not a problem my feet were dry and happy. Further up into the alpine towards the Thorong La pass the rugged soles provided perfect grip on steep sections and plenty of stability for the rock strewn scree fields and were warm to boot (pun intended). On the whole circuit I had not as much as a sore spot in the boots. They were amazing especially since they had only been purchased 2 days before the hike. There were no signs these boots had been pummeled every day for weeks, they held up to the punishment amazingly well. I would recommend these boots to anyone. |
