This review is from: Lowboy #22 - Murder & Romance on 18 Wheels (Kindle Edition)
Lowboy #22 starts off with the copyright page and the back cover blurb
(which were actually fun to read, though) and then shortly into Chapter
One this thing takes off. Could not put it down! Gets a little gory at
times but the characters reminded me of Elmore Leonard, plus Lowboy
includes their home life, which is a hoot, and the plot never stops.

Holy sheep dip bat man...
I read for hours; not able put to put it down.
A bit hard to follow, but captured my own personal fantasies quite well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Fun, September 14, 2011

I love the characters in this rollicking good read, having met some of them before in 'Harry & Ivory' and 'Gulf Coast Stories'. I have to say that where 'Harry&Ivory' is literary fiction, this book is 'pulp fiction' and I write that with respect and a grin. It is what it is and that is it's a lot of fun to read. The details get a little 'quantum' at times (one or two breaks in the narrative, gaps the reader has to fill in themselves, as in quantum leaps) but you quickly realize what was missed it doesn't hurt the reading, it actually adds to the character and flavor of the book itself. Nobody takes themselves too seriously yet the plot includes very serious issues such as theft, kidnapping, people trafficking, incest, murder, fraud, bigamy and bad taste in music!

The details that matter, such as what it is like to drive a lowboy 18 wheeler across the Southern states of the USA, to lust after your own tramp of a sister and to want to make it home safe at the end of the trip are all there, as well as many other minutiae. This book engages the reader right from the start and makes them think even as they settle back and get involved in the story. I loved it, but then I love the author's voice. He brings all of the characters to life and makes you want to head out to the interstate and hitch a ride in the next semi to roll past, just to see what might become of you!
