Small and compact., November 4, 2006
I'm still in awe of this bag. I'm able to get a digital SLR with lens, a second lens, flash, extra batteries and extra Flash cards all within such a small little pack.
This bag WILL NOT have enough room for larger telephoto lenses though -- it's barely big enough to carry my Sigma wide angle lens without making me feel a bit "omigod I'm going to break it" uncomfortable.
There's also a nifty waterproof cover that is permanently attached to the front bottom pocket that let's you quickly flip out and cover the bag in cases of spontaneous rain storms.
One caveat on the construction: The connection point between the strap and the bag is incredible flimsy and very easily separates. To remedy this situation, I just replaced that clip with a more permanent one (in my case a metal key ring). This is the only problem that I see and I've been carrying this bag around daily for over a year.

Better than expected, but not perfect, December 22, 2006
When I initially started my camera bag search for my Canon Rebel XTI, I wanted something that could hold my full range of expected lenses. But after looking at many of the larger bags, I realized I would be hesitant to bring my camera out on the whim if I had to lug the huge bag around. So, I "settled" on the Lowepro Nova 1.
First off, the Nova 1 seems like the privileged twin of the Lowepro EX 160. They both share the same dimensions (7.75W x 4D x 6.5H in. / 19.5 x 10 x 16.5 cm) and layout. Given the Canon Rebel XT/XTI body is roughly 5W x 4H x 3D in., the camera body occupies two-thirds of the bag's width and all of the bag's depth when stored lens-down. Strategically placing the two velco dividers, I can fit the XTI with a mounted Tamron 28-75 lens on one side and a Canon 18-55mm kit lens and Canon 50mm F/1.8 lens on the other side. The bag could also, in theory, be arranged to accomodate the XTI body, a Canon 70-200mm F4L and the kit lens.
The Nova 1, however, differs from the EX 160 by offerring a few more pockets (zippered and open mesh) and a waterproof cover. The extra pockets are nice, accomodating the battery charger, extra batteries, lens filters, etc. I'm not too impressed with the attached waterproof cover, which hides in a bottom pocket. A plastic bag would accomplish the same task.
The bag is well padded and I was pleasantly surprised by it's sturdy construction. However, the biggest point against it is the plastic clips where the shoulder strap meets the bag. Unlike the other reviews, I've yet to have any issues with it. But walking down a crowded, pushy crowd with the bag holding your $1000+ equipment and I'd start to worry.

Great Camera Bag for mid-range needs, March 26, 2005
I needed a camera bag to hold my Canon Powershot G6, lens adapter, teleconverter, external flash, filters, power cords, memory cards, extra battery, battery charger, remote control, lens cleaning kit, and card reader. However, I didn't want to spend a lot of money. This bag is perfect. It fits all the above. It has a secure ziplock compartment that also has a flapover design with a quick snaplock - this allows you to just snaplock it to keep all your gear inside while you move from one spot to the next without having to zip it all up. The zipper compartment on the flapover is perfect for your memory cards and extra battery -it provides for quick changes. The main inside compartment holds the camera , lens and flash nicely plus several filters. The additional inside compartments provide compartments to store all the rest of the gear. In addition, the bag has loops to attach it to your belt and use it as a beltbag and an attached waterproof cover that is great for inclement weather transport. The padding is high quality and protects the gear very nicely.
