5.0 out of 5 stars Small and compact.
I'm still in awe of this bag. I'm able to get a digital SLR with lens, a second lens, flash, extra batteries and extra Flash cards all within such a small little pack.

This bag WILL NOT have enough room for larger telephoto lenses though -- it's barely big enough to carry my Sigma wide angle lens without making me feel a bit "omigod I'm going to break it"...

1.0 out of 5 stars serious design flaw
I have the Nova 2 which is identical to the Nova 1 but bigger. The bag itself is okay. I can fit an SLR body plus 3 lenses and small accessories. It is not waterproof but it comes with a plastic cover which can be used to keep rain out. However, none of that matters when there is a seriously weak link. During my first trip with this bag, the clasp that connects the bag to...

I'm still in awe of this bag. I'm able to get a digital SLR with lens, a second lens, flash, extra batteries and extra Flash cards all within such a small little pack.

This bag WILL NOT have enough room for larger telephoto lenses though -- it's barely big enough to carry my Sigma wide angle lens without making me feel a bit "omigod I'm going to break it" uncomfortable.

There's also a nifty waterproof cover that is permanently attached to the front bottom pocket that let's you quickly flip out and cover the bag in cases of spontaneous rain storms.

One caveat on the construction: The connection point between the strap and the bag is incredible flimsy and very easily separates. To remedy this situation, I just replaced that clip with a more permanent one (in my case a metal key ring). This is the only problem that I see and I've been carrying this bag around daily for over a year.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected, but not perfect, December 22, 2006
When I initially started my camera bag search for my Canon Rebel XTI, I wanted something that could hold my full range of expected lenses. But after looking at many of the larger bags, I realized I would be hesitant to bring my camera out on the whim if I had to lug the huge bag around. So, I "settled" on the Lowepro Nova 1.

First off, the Nova 1 seems like the privileged twin of the Lowepro EX 160. They both share the same dimensions (7.75W x 4D x 6.5H in. / 19.5 x 10 x 16.5 cm) and layout. Given the Canon Rebel XT/XTI body is roughly 5W x 4H x 3D in., the camera body occupies two-thirds of the bag's width and all of the bag's depth when stored lens-down. Strategically placing the two velco dividers, I can fit the XTI with a mounted Tamron 28-75 lens on one side and a Canon 18-55mm kit lens and Canon 50mm F/1.8 lens on the other side. The bag could also, in theory, be arranged to accomodate the XTI body, a Canon 70-200mm F4L and the kit lens.

The Nova 1, however, differs from the EX 160 by offerring a few more pockets (zippered and open mesh) and a waterproof cover. The extra pockets are nice, accomodating the battery charger, extra batteries, lens filters, etc. I'm not too impressed with the attached waterproof cover, which hides in a bottom pocket. A plastic bag would accomplish the same task.

The bag is well padded and I was pleasantly surprised by it's sturdy construction. However, the biggest point against it is the plastic clips where the shoulder strap meets the bag. Unlike the other reviews, I've yet to have any issues with it. But walking down a crowded, pushy crowd with the bag holding your $1000+ equipment and I'd start to worry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Camera Bag for mid-range needs, March 26, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I needed a camera bag to hold my Canon Powershot G6, lens adapter, teleconverter, external flash, filters, power cords, memory cards, extra battery, battery charger, remote control, lens cleaning kit, and card reader. However, I didn't want to spend a lot of money. This bag is perfect. It fits all the above. It has a secure ziplock compartment that also has a flapover design with a quick snaplock - this allows you to just snaplock it to keep all your gear inside while you move from one spot to the next without having to zip it all up. The zipper compartment on the flapover is perfect for your memory cards and extra battery -it provides for quick changes. The main inside compartment holds the camera , lens and flash nicely plus several filters. The additional inside compartments provide compartments to store all the rest of the gear. In addition, the bag has loops to attach it to your belt and use it as a beltbag and an attached waterproof cover that is great for inclement weather transport. The padding is high quality and protects the gear very nicely.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product, August 28, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is perfect for my Canon PS S3IS and its add ons. This little bag carries my S3 with a Teleconverter (Sony VCL-DH1758), a Wide Angle Converter (Raynox DCR6600) a 52mm lens adapter with a UV filter/protector attached to it, a 52mm polarizer, a 72mm polarizer, 4 spare batteries, two SD cards (it can take more), my cleaning kit (Bushnell cleaning kit: microfiber cloth, brush and cleaning liquid) and a mini tripod. It came with two adjustable internal dividers (I use one). It all weights approximately 4.5 lbs (bag and all items included) and there are a few pockets here and there where I can add a few more small items. The bag has a protective cover that slips out of a pocket to protect everything from the weather, if needed. The bag appears to be built with excellent materials. It's a nice looking bag (I got the black) and it comes with an adjustable padded shoulder strap (designed to comfortably carry the bag opposite from the shoulder it's hanging from). I totally recommend it.

The item was exactly as described. If you are looking for a small, light weight camera bag (something to carry just your camera, and one or two lens) this is your bag. The bag is very well designed to protect you camera and comes with plenty of pockets to stash lens covers, instruction manuels, ect. For me, it is the perfect bag for a day trip. Highly recommended.

1.0 out of 5 stars serious design flaw, November 19, 2006

This review is from: Lowepro Nova 1 AW Camera Bag (Gray) (Electronics)
I have the Nova 2 which is identical to the Nova 1 but bigger. The bag itself is okay. I can fit an SLR body plus 3 lenses and small accessories. It is not waterproof but it comes with a plastic cover which can be used to keep rain out. However, none of that matters when there is a seriously weak link. During my first trip with this bag, the clasp that connects the bag to the shoulder strap came undone twice within 3 days, dropping the bag to the ground and damaging some of my lenses. I examined the strap to see what the problem was and apparently it is a design flaw rather than a defect. The 2 clasps at the end of the strap that connect it to the bag are narrow and made of plastic. They can easily be twisted out of alignment, making an opening through which the connecting rings on the bag can fall through. I did not overload the bag, abuse it or misuse it, yet it failed to do what it is supposed to do: carry my camera equipment safely. I had never dropped any of my photo equipment prior to this. I sent an email to Lowepro's customer service department, calmly explaining what happened and requesting that some sort of compensation be made for damage caused by the faulty design of their product, but they simply ignored my letter.

I would not recommend this bag or any Lowepro bag to anyone who value their cameras.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good product, January 11, 2008
This review is from: Lowepro Nova 1 AW Camera Bag (Gray) (Electronics)
I bought this camera bag to hold my 35mm SLR since my old camera bag was full of mold after I went on vacation to waterfalls last year. This camera bag was said to be all weather. I went to Jamaica and was around all kinds of waterfalls and humid jungles and there is no mold. So it certainly seems to be a good product. It is just the right size for an SLR, I would not recommend it if you have multilple lenses or large lenses. Lowepro has bigger sizes but make sure you pay attention to the measurments because my husband just bought a larger Lowepro bag for our new digital SLR and it was huge.

4.0 out of 5 stars REVIEW, June 5, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
BAG IS WELL-MADE AND COMFORTABLE. PROBLEM IS, IT'S JUST A LITTLE SMALL IF YOU OWN SEVERAL LENSES, SO YOU CAN'Y CARRY MORE THAN 1 OR 2 EXTRA LENSES, AND THEN NO ROOM FOR ACCESSORY FLASH. LOTS OF POCKETS.

I was looking for an economical carrying case for our service techs. We have 3 wireless credit card terminals. The terminal supplier wanted $79 for their custom made bag. We pruchased 3 cases for $52.80 through Amazon.

The Lowepro Nova 1 turned out to be a perfect fit for the terminals, charging units and supplies. The price is great for the well constructed durable case.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fits Canon EOS XSi + 2 lenses perfectly, June 21, 2009
By
grafiks (Redmond, WA) - See all my reviews
It fits Canon EOS XSi with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens, plus the EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS Telephoto Zoom Lens. Not much room is left in the main cabin (possibly for one or two filters?) The front pocket is large enough for a small digital camera (e.g. a Canon A95); side pockets are very small. Overall, the bag is large enough to hold my DSLR yet small and portable enough for casual city hunting.

I have not have the chance to try the All Weather cover.
