I probably should have gotten the next size up but it carries 90% of everything i need. I absolutely love that I can be wearing it as a backpack with a quick swing of the bag have access to my camera without having to disturb the rest of the content.

Lowepro makes good products. I own several lens cases one backpack and this 200AW Slingshot bag. It is comfortable enough to walk around with for extended periods of time with a camera and moderate amount of gear. The construction is good. I have used it a lot, and I am not too kind to my bags. I throw it in the backseat of the truck, on the tidal areas of the beach, on the wet ground, and crawl through the brush with it. It provides good protection. I would recommend the Slingshot series or the Flipside backpacks to anyone looking for a durable bag or pack with good protection. Get the 200 or 300 for the bigger dSLR's in the Slingshot. The 100 is okay for a Nikon D90 or something similar, but not a lot of room. The 200 is about right for D300 or D700 size cameras with a 24-70mm lens.
If you need more room, and good protection, upgrade to the Lowepro 400AW. They are comfortable, good wet weather protection, and you can stuff a Nikon D700 with a battery grip and a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens in it and still have room for a speedlight, a wide angle lens, and a few other accessories. The 200 Slingshot will limit you to a 24-70mm lens or so and maybe a 105mm Macro or equivalent and a few accessories (but it is meant to be a walk around case and not a carry all but the kitchen sink case). The all weather covers will work well in everything but the heaviest rainfall. The ballistic type nylon cleans up easy enough if you set one of these bags down in the dirt or moss someplace.

The Lowepro Slingshot 200 AW is a great product overall. It provides lots of pockets and compartments to store an average load of equipment. Its also comfortable to lug around an average amount of camera gear. My one complaint is that its kind of hard to get to the extra lens since I like to only open the main compartment halfway. But overall it seems to be a very nice product so far.
The lens pens are also very nice and perform as intended. The blower is also an important piece of equipment to have in case you need to blow dust off your sensor. The other cleaning accessories are somewhat useless in my opinion, but I still carry them around in case I discover a use for them. |
