Big backpack with plenty of room - exceptional quality!,

This review is from: Lowepro Transit Notebook Backpack - fits most 17" Laptops (Personal Computers)
This is one of those products that looks like it got a lot of attention during the design stage. Every feature makes sense, and the best words I can use to describe the bag are "intelligent" and "thoughful."
The fit and finish are flawless, as you would expect from Lowepro. They seem to use only top-shelf fabric and hardware for their bags, and this one is no exception. The zippers are serious and smooth, and the stitching is laser-straight. Frankly, I'm kind of surprised by the other reviews that suggest this is an undersized bag. It fits my gigantic 17" HP laptop with room to spare, and that's saying something! Even with my enormous laptop inside, there's lots of extra room for all the accessories, chargers, camera, papers, and junk I always carry around. If there's a roomier bag out there, I'd like to see it--yet this one carries like a much smaller bag. That's a sure sign of good design. I couldn't be more pleased with this bag. I spent more for the Lowepro reputation, but I feel like I'm being rewarded for that decision every day. This is a GREAT backpack!

I bought this bag because the title says fits most 17" laptops.
I read the reviews before buying and some said their 17" laptop fit and some said it didn't. Well this bag is top quality - but it will never hold a standard 17" laptop. My Acer was two inches too long to go in the laptop pouch and an inch too wide to go in the generic pouch. The kicker is that the maker tags on the bag clearly state "Will fit most 15.4" laptops". I never would have selected this one if those tags had appeared in the photos. If I had been searching for a bag for a smaller notebook, this would have been an excellent find. But since this purchase was supposed to be for my new Acer 17.3 inch, 8 pound monster laptop, it utterly fails. The Acer won't go into the dedicated, well padded laptop pouch and it won't go into the generic pouch designed to hold the various accessories like mice, power bricks and media. So my daughter gets a great laptop backpack, and I go back to looking.

It fits my macbook pro 17" just fine. It's funny - it's got an interior compartment which doesn't really fit the macbook really well. But then it's got another, really well padded zipper that runs right up the side. This compartment is not in the main area, but rather, right against your back. That part fits the macbook really well, and you don't even know it's there. It's like a little secret compartment. This leaves the rest of the bag free to put other things. If I had a complaint, it would be that the bag could be bigger. I'm 6'3" and this bag feels a bit small to me. I wouldn't mind if it was about 15% bigger.

This Lowepro backpack has a tag that is clearly labeled "Fits most 15.4" widescreen laptops". I have an HP Pavilion dv7-3065dx laptop which measures 16.2" x 10.9" (screen size 17.3" measured diagonally) and it did not fit the padded pocket accessed by the side zipper. This padded area is what would be against your back and the inside of the backpack. My laptop did however fit inside the backpack, but it is not padded on both sides, just one. Books will have to go on the other side of it. There are plenty of pockets for everything you can think of, including a pouch on the strap for your cell phone (there is mesh on both sides of the cell phone pouch, so it will fit many sizes). The backpack seems kind of large to me, I'm 5'2". The zippers do not have a cloth overlap, but do appear to have fabric woven into the top of the zipper. There's plenty of room for your books, cables, a lunch, water bottle, and more. For the price I will keep it, but I think this product is misrepresented by stating that it fits 17" laptops. I guess I will also keep it since the product was not shipped with a receipt or return label.

Hi quality, marginally for a 17" laptop,

Pros: A very well-built pack. Unlike many computer packs, this one has foam padding on all 6 sides of the pocket for your computer, so if you drop it, you don't have to hope that it lands on a padded face. This comes with robust zippers and seams, more compartments and pockets than a person is likely to need.
Cons (of a sort): As other reviewers have stated, the Lowepro pack is described on Amazon as suitable for 17" laptops, but mine arrived with a tag stating that it `fits most 15.4" notebooks'. That is probably the right claim. It did fit my 17" -- very snugly, which probably makes it safer. However, there are likely 17" notebooks that wouldn't fit, so select this if you have a smaller machine, or are willing to chance a return shipment. So many zippers and compartments, this pack is a little heavier than some might like.

Ill keep it short and sweet. Needed a good backpack for my toshiba laptop. Read some reviews and instantly purchased the item as other reviews stated how nice this product was. When i recieved the item instantly took my laptop and placed in both compartments(Seperate Zipper Slot and in the main space of the back pack) both were a squeeze but fit snug and nice. Kinda nice that my laptop doesnt have a lot of room hince it will stay stationary. Any ways havent really givin it a test run (taken backpack/laptop out for travel) but from the looks of it, it will be great... I suggest to anyone who wants a firm, stylish, efficient laptop backpack. Would purchase again in a second A++ item.
Thnx Dwonka27

Great backpack, bought it for my HP HDX 16' laptop, wich fits just perfect in the designated laptop pocket. It has an extra one where you can fit all the accesories you'll need, power cable, mouse and books.
It also has a padded side pocket for digital cameras, and another one for water bottles. Both of them are zipped and hided, so when you dont need them, they wont be a bother. Forgot about two extra pocket, one for the pencils, wallet, etc. and a pretty hidden one for whatever you may need. Quality of the backpack is outstanding, it feels will last forever, at least many years. Only thing about it is that when empty, it can feel a little heavy, but it really doesnt make much difference while actually carrying a laptop. Another point, it fits my 16 inch laptop perfect, but, altough I haven't tested it, it doesnt seem it will hold a 17 inchs just fine. But that is just an assumption.

My friends advised against buying this bag since it was cheap and there are other well known bags. Oh boy!they were wrong! This is one of the best laptop bags I have ever bought. Its pretty light weight and I use it most of the time to carry my laptop and extra books.. I am sure you won't be disappointed!
NOTE: don't buy this if you own laptop with screen size > 15.6'

Very nice, well designed back pack. It is slim in appearance, but can get allot into it.
As someone else has said, the tag on it indeed does say for 15.4" Lap Top. Not sure why it say 17" pack here and even the video says 17". My Toshiba Satellite L505D-S5983 Notebook w/ 15.6" Screen barely fits inside. I have to slide it in diagonally and shove it in the rest of the way. I would check the dimensions of your laptop if trying to use for a 17".

I take my laptop with me everyday to work and this bag is great for my needs. The padding is ample and there is plenty of storage for all of the laptop accessory. I have a 15.6" screen and it fits snug but not tight. I'm not sure if a 17" would fit well but mine fits fine. If you need a bag for the road this is it. The canvas is tough and the zippers are solid.
