I had an identical transducer on my trolling motor. Mouse chewed cable in half while boat was in the garage this fall/winter. I removed boat cover so maybe mouse won't feel at home ruining my boat. I did have moth balls in all compartments, so he didn't set up camp. He had been in the rod boxes, but those moth balls convinced him to leave. I have a glass jar back by gas tank compartment with moth balls in there also. By the way my old transducer/cable worked great until this recent mouse attack. UPDATE: it was probably a rat that chewed on cable and split it in half; I later found a dead rat on floor under boat that had eaten some mouse poison pellets I'd bought at Wally World. My backyard enclosed garage is next to some fields.

This transducer failed after only 5 trips. When I say failed, what I mean is: it's still working but the outter plastic housing is cracked allowing water into the unit and now you can hear it pinging (sending signal) very loud and I'm sure it's only a matter of time before it stops working. My boat is as new as the transducer so I assure you that I have not abused either one. When I noticed the loud clicking noise I reached down and checked it and it started giving me a pulsing shock. Now I have to purchase a new unit and wondering if I should buy a "Shoot thru Hull" model to protect it. Only that will not let me read the water temp. In my opinion it should be replaced by warranty. :-(

I shifted from a thru hull to this external transducer and very pleased with the performance. I thought I might loose depth at speed, but I can honestly say that I consistently read bottom depth at speeds in excess of fifty MPH. When running the coastal flats of South Texas, consistent depth monitoring is a must! Great product!!!

The transducer was exactly as advertised, and arrived very quick. Installation difficulty is dictated by whatever type of boat you are installing the transducer in (mine is a Tracker Pro Team 190). From start to finish it took me about an hour with the hardest part being getting the panel with the boat throttle lever unscrewed and moved to where I could route the cable. Remember when you first turn on your Lowrance your unit will detect the new Transducer and should enter the set up screen (I forgot about this). Select the type transducer (I did generic because I forgot and was on the lake) and if you have problems select the Generic Transducer, exit set up and it should work great.

I have owned 3 Lowrance units in the last 5 years. Have had all fail, both power units and transducers. I'm going to try Garmin, am tired of replacing the transducer or the unit every two years. Will try to nurse my 522c unit as long as I can, but will have a Garmin as my primary GPS/graph. Hope it has a longer life than these Lowrance units. I recommend you look elsewhere when buying a new unit.

This is mostly my fault, i should have bought the better one to begin with. Terrible in the ocean..... you would have to be in a kayak or have an electric engine mounted on the front in order for there to be no interference. I suggest buying the HST-DFSBL and save yourself the any hassle. its more expensive, but you get what you pay for.

This transducer worked perfectly out of the box. The cable was of sufficient length to be able to mount the transducer where I wanted and be able to connect it to the depth finder. I especially like the mount design that allows the transducer to be able to contact something and deflect upwards so that no damage occurs to the unit.

OEM replacement, as mine had gone bad. Just the same as th original. I re-ran the wires, mounted it and connected. Next time out, worked just fine. It's too bad this seems to be a common problem, as i found out on the web. Probably go with Humminbird next time.
