Nifty Mix,

What a fascinating mix of international music!
I was quite surprised to see two songs first: Samba Malato and Valentin. These types of music, although common in Peru, shows the different styles in that country. The foundation of them is Afro-Peruvian, and the singer Susana Baca is well-known in South America. I also loved "A Minha Menina," which I had heard before in a commercial. It was lovely to hear this Brazilian tune with its great beat. It made me feel like dancing over and over! "Banby Banby" had a smooth R&B/Soul beat, while "Slip Away" was relaxing and sweet. I was also impressed of the album by adding some other up-beat dance like "Ease your Mind," and "Wherever you Go" also includes blues tone. Overall, it reminded me of shopping in World Market, a store of international items. Listen to these songs and travel in your musical mind!

Everything on this sampler is palatable - at least to my ears. I've recently gotten picky over what I'll download from the freebie department and I found that all of these tracks are worth putting on a workday playlist to fill the background of the typical monotony. Thank you Amazon!

Luaka Bop never disappoints!,

Anyone that is not familiar with this label by David Byrne (formerly of Talking Heads) should give this a listen! If you have even a passing interest in world music it will likely become a favorite.
I was a bit put off that they are celebrating 21 years of this label, since that shows my age! Check out the Brazil and Afropea compiliations from this label especially they are excellent, and their 10 year sampler Zero Accidents on the job. Brilliant!

I like to listen to this kind of laid back, calming music when I cook, drive or just sit on the deck in the summer. Very enjoyable!! Thank you Amazon.

Admittedly, I downloaded songs from this album as the result of a free promotional download, but after listening to them for a few weeks I found myself returning for more. The songs are catchy, jazzy and fun. It's not an album to listen to when you are trying to focus on the content of the music, but it is great background or mood music. I find it mellow enough to listen to when I am working on writing or during meals.

Some of these songs are so bad they're funny. I kept Bandy Bandy, by Zap Mama featuring Erykah Badu, which is nice. Also kept two other tracks, which I shall not name, but only for my "Really Bad Songs" playlist.
