Lubriplate 10 OZ Low Temp Lithium Garage Door Grease

Pros:

- excellent lubricant

- large tube, so you won't run out any time soon

- excellent value, especially when compared to Genie GLU-3 Screw Drive Garage Door Opener Lubricant, which costs about 10 times as much per ounce. (Grease from both products is white and has the same consistency; it seems to be the same grease.)

Cons:

- tip has a tiny dimple in the center which you are supposed remove in order to lay a narrow bead of grease. Try to cut it out with a utility knife and you could easily cut yourself. I used a tiny punch to poke a small hole in the end and then drilled out that hole with a 7/64" drill bit. If you cut the tip of the tube off entirely, the bead of grease will be 1/4" in diameter.

Other:

- it doesn't say "garage door grease" on the tube's printing, but there is a paper sticker on the tube that labels it as such. In any case, it seems perfectly suited to Genie screw drives or other purposes.

Summary:

Terrific bargain for excellent grease.

I use this grease for my Genie screw drive openers. This is far more cost effective than buying the 3 pack that Genie sells. This lube is listed on Lubriplate's web site as a recommended Genie automatic garage door lubricant (as of this review). Never had a problem even with temperatures at 0*F or below. It's important to keep the screw drive lubed, and this makes it easy to keep them that way.

I got the Lubriplate low temp grease for my screw drive garage door opener. It appears to be a good replacement for the Genie branded lithium grease as the action on this door seems effortless now and the noise is substantially reduced

As far as I'm concerned, this lubricant has no equal. I use it for anything that squeeks.

This is what the garage door companies try to charge you 10X the price for at the Hardware Store in the tiny tubes. Buy this once and you'll be good for the rest of your life.

Don't try other greases on your screw drive garage door. I tried a different lithium grease and it sounded like it was going to blow up. This has the right formula.

This is what old M1 and M14 rifles need ... and works great on hardware too! Door hinges, anything else that requires good lubrication that will stay put. Very cost effective.

This is a very large squeeze tube of general purpose low-temp lube (it will probably last me decades). I'm not sure why "garage doors" are particularly called out in the item name, but it can certainly be used for that. I should know since I immediately applied a bunch to my 10-year-grease-neglected genie screw-driven garage door opener. I bought this instead of the Genie GLU grease after I realized how small the Genie tubes where. My advice? If you were thinking about buying the Genie grease, buy this stuff instead.

I had difficulty applying a continuous bead most of the time (it wouldn't always stick to the screw, and would curl back onto the tube spout). So Instead I made small blobs every 4 inches or so by pressing the tip into the screw, squeezing the tube for a second, and pulling back. Repeat until you've put little dots all the way down the track. Cycling the door a few times does a plenty good job distributing the grease.

The only weird thing is the tube I received is black/gray/white, not black/yellow/white as pictured. It appears to be same item by the same manufacturer, so at least I'm pretty sure it's the correct stuff. The Lubriplate webpage shows the same yellow tube that is currently pictured, but I'm wondering if perhaps they've changed the packaging and retailers just haven't updated their images.
