I live in southern California where there is a serious biological contamination issue with diesel.My old diesel mercedes that was starting to smoke. I ran a tank with bio medic and the smoke stopped and the engine has noticeably gained power. So that was clearly the problem. I did get some dead bacteria gunk in my fuel filter so be careful you don't get a clogged fuel line.
