I'm confident this product works OK but it's NOT a true ZDDP
additive. The product only states that it increases the Zinc
content of the oil. A true ZDDP package like what used to be
in motor oil would have both Zinc and Phosphorus.
No reply back from there tech dept. as to why.

2004-2006 VW TDI engines have cam lobes that are under engineered and wear with just the VW recommended oil. Adding about 4 oz. of this per oil change seems to do the trick keeping the cam lubed and hardened just enough to stop/slow the wear. the zinc may lower the effectiveness of the catalytic converter, but keeping the engine from self destructing is more important to me.

i added this to the oil in my 1970 chevy elcamino 402 big block engine for the zinc additive. i only drive about 500 miles per year so i leave it in all year. no ill effects. i bought it a second time to add to my oil this year as well.

There are 2 uses for this stuff: breaking in recently overhauled engines and maintain ZDDP levels in your oil. As for the break in, I have run this through two 4.0 liter I-6 Jeep (technically AMC) engines with no issues. One has 10,000 miles and the other has 25,000 miles, both are still running strong. I have also been adding this in with each oil change.

The government has decided that ZDDP (Zinc dithiophosphate) can't be in oil anymore because it can poison catalytic converters. If you don't care about your converter, have flat-tappet valve trains or have piston rings that work, then ignore them and add this to your oil. Most engines designed before 1990 were made to run with ZDDP in them. Now anyone who wants to keep an older car has to put the ZDDP in themselves. Based on some time spent on forums people seem to agree that 1-1/4 ounces of this additive per quart of oil will get you to around 1000ppm. 1200ppm is better, but if you go much over that, you'll actually cause faster wear, so I stick to the 1000ppm level.

Works great, was recommended by my engine builder to use this stuff on the first fill up. It stinks to high heaven when you goto drain your oil out.

I rebuilt my engine in a jeep wrangler, put new lifters on an old cam. Figured this would save the motor, and 3k miles later no issues. Used half the bottle for the first 500 miles, put the second half in with thicker oil until 1000 miles. Then went with a diesel oil due to the zinc properties. Oil pressure good, no metal flakes in the oil. I would use it again if rebuilding an engine.
