Best show/music since Dave Matthews' "Under the Table...",
By Robin Gotfrid (Half Moon Bay, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Luce (Audio CD)
If you get a chance to see this band live in a small venue before they hit the big time (and they will soon), GO SEE THEM! Their music, lyrics, stage presence, and audience appreciation are impressive. We recently saw them at The Last Day Saloon in San Francisco, and I haven't enjoyed a live show so much since seeing the Dave Matthews Band at the Cat's Paw in Bozeman, Montana, just before they hit it really big. This self-titled album is fantastic from the first listen -- every song -- and you'll find yourself playing it over and over and over... A modern classic. Need I say more?

In layman's terms. "What a wonderful CD!". I bought this about two weeks ago and have not been able to stop listening. Tom Luce has a great voice. The harmonies are gorgeous and lyrics provocative at times. Have never been one to let the production and mixing make my decision on whether or not I liked the artist. But would definately have to say that all of the above and the combination of mixing makes this a wonderful find. The very significant details have not been compromised in order to just get the music out there. The violin/cello/harmonica incorporated with the usual atmosphere have the makings for a wonderful debut. Pick it up. You won't be disappointed.

Catch them before they hit the big time!,

The range of this band is pretty amazing...they go from psychedelic in "Numb" to pop in "Good Day" to haunting in "Soon". Luce is one of the best live bands I've seen in a long time. A local radio station started playing them here in the Bay Area about a year ago and when I saw them live, I was hooked. I saw them at an outdoor concert and they played one of the best renditions of Stevie Wonder's "Superstitious" I've heard. Very impressive CD....buy it!

Amazing melodies, lyrics and production. I cannot get this CD out of my player - it's been there for weeks and it refuses to leave. This is the kind of intelligent, clever, quirky music the pop world needs more of. This album and Coldplay's "A Rush Of Blood To The Head" are the two best albums I've heard in years. From the slice-of-life "Good Day" to the layered harmonies of "Numb" and "Sunniest of Weekends", this CD is well worth whatever you pay for it. Please send Luce to Denver - I'm envious of all the Bay Area fans who have seen them live!

If you want a CD that you'll never remove from your CD player, this is one of them! The sound, the vocals, it's all amazing. I've seen Luce play live quite a few times now and I never get tired of them. They just sound great! Pick up their CD and get hooked! Especially liked the bonus tracks left out on the last album before they had a label..."If I Had the Wind" and an absolutely great song, "Waiting". You need to get this CD!!

I love this CD - listen to it constantly. I first heard about the band after hearing the song "Good Day" on Alias, but I love all the tracks, especially Long Way Down, Electric Chair, and Life. An amazing group of songs, you won't get tired of it.

Everyone Should hear this Cd,

I am a Musician from Long Island, New York. Its a shame that a great CD like the one that Luce has here will never be on the radio for the masses to hear. I have a huge Cd collection of my own, and this Cd is one of the best I have ever had the pleasure of buying. In a day here when most bands sound so much alike, Its great to hear a man like Tom Luce put out this Cd even if the masses miss out. I tell everyone I know to get it and have even bought most of my friends the Cd. They all love it.If you love ear friendly Pop with a nice Funk/jazz groove with great smart lyrics, you will love this Cd. If you get this and love it, feel free to write me @ Toadny@optonline.net. I have many other Cd's from bands that will never be on the radio that you may love.

Luse Is The Best CD I Own,
By Margo (Fremont, CA) - See all my reviews

This cd is GREAT from begining to end. Every song is solid. Talent just pours out!! I could listen to Luce all day long! Both Long Way Down and Good Day have melodies that you find yourself singing later in your head. In the Middle There is a funny song bound to strike a chord with anyone! Bring Her In is a very sexy song sure to please. Tom's voice is so enjoyable, Matt and Brian really rip it up on the guitars, Kyle is a mad man on the keys and the trumpet, Jonathan is a smooth drummer and Larry keeps the groove on the base. Buy this cd, it's worth every penny!! And be sure to see Luce live if you get the chance, you will LOVE this band!
