it's been a year since I wrote the following review, which was within 2 weeks of getting this record, and some of its shine has worn off. some tracks are still beautiful, but this is not music I have returned to again and again.
________________ bold and subtle, challenging and beautiful, playful and oh so serious... this is modern jazz that breaks new ground yet is full of humanity... virtuosity of the players does not get in the way of the message, which is so clearly pronounced, thrilling and lovely, and cannot be transcribed into words. I put this up there with the best jazz records of all time. |
