I was very pleased with this book. It gave really good advice and some great, easy recipes. I'd definitely recommend it.

I bought this as a gift and the person who received it really liked the book. she said she would recommend it to her friends. Thank you

THe Book was not what I expected.
It was short on everyday tips for general life
issues that would help college age people...

Its ok...

Basic skills, but oh so necessary to life!! Simple, easy to understand. All kids should get one on the way out the door at 18.

Great book for my daughter who will be going off to college in the fall.

Got this book for my daughter who was newly on her own and away from home...She has enjoyed the survival skills review she has for setting up her own place...Cute, all the things you would say if you were there to remond them how to do ironing etc.....

I had heard such great reviews on this book, that I wanted to give it to both of my young adult children. However, we were totally disappointed, in fact, they both began laughing when looking at it. At only 108 pages, with elementary large print, it contains below average information about setting up a home. Recipes look simple enough, but will likely never know, because the books have already been shelved. More sound and detailed information is available online for our computer savvy children...which unfortunately only underscores the notion that reading books is becoming even more archaic. This is a sweet little "book" for the author to honor her grandmother - but a waste of time for the rest of us.

I read a review of this book in the NY Times last year and remembered it when a young coworker who has never cooked, never done her own laundry, announced her engagement. Thought it might come in handy when she has to leave home. She pronounced it "cute", but I'm sure if she reads it, it will come in handy.

I thought this might be great for my adult children. To my delight, there was nothing there that I'd not already taught them! So I returned the books.
