This kettle has a handle that gets extremely hot when boiling, beware! I also found the whistling to be irritating, much like nails on a chalkboard. The kettle does look nice, but I have since bought a wonderful kettle that has a more sophisticated appearance and performs excellent for the same price at Strawbridge's.

I bought one of these in January 2002 and today Nov 2002 it started leaking from the bottom. Evidently the enamel got chipped on the bottom during use and then the pot metal it is made of only took a few months to corrode to the point of leaking.
[For the price,] I expected this to last longer than the last teapot I bought at the grocery store... It lasted over 3 years.
So much for expectations.

I've owned this tea kettle for about five years. I bought it when I first moved out on my own and I thought it looked cool. I had to return my first one in 1-2 days because some of the enamel was cracked. My current one has chipped off enamel and now the "chrome" on the handle is pealing off. I've kept if for so long because I rarely drink tea and I just use it to diffuse heat from a hot burner. I get compliments on the look of it all the time. It does look nice and if you a tea kettle just to make your stove look cool then maybe this will work for you. I forgot to mention, the handle gets hot and the interior enamel is rough so it never feels clean.

Very stylish with a great-looking finish. However, the handle gets very hot and it is a little awkward trying to open the spout cover with a pot holder. I don't use it that often so it doesn't really bother me, but if you use your teakettle frequently it may present itself as a nuisance.

There's a congenial meeting of form and function in this handsome tea kettle from Copco. The design and subtle gray mirror porcelain color make the kettle an attractive addition to our contemporary decor. Yet, the design is so timeless that it would surely appeal to those who prefer Early American, French Provencial or any other period for that matter.

Appearance is what first attracted me to this tea kettle; now, I'm happy to say that although it looks like a thoroughbred it performs like a workhorse. Holding up to 2.5 quarts of water it has a cheery whistling to announce when water is ready. Its porcelain enamel-on-steel finish is easy to keep shiny new with the swipe of a damp cloth. And, a heat resistant handle is ergonomically friendly with a lever that holds spout open for quick no-spill pouring.

Copco, according to the enclosed information, puts their products through a rigorous testing program beginning with a third party test lab - more assurance that the Lucid tea kettle is a top quality item.

I REALLY WAS IMPRESSED WHEN THIS TEAPOT ARRIVED. MY DAUGHTER STOPPED BY AND LIKED IT SO MUCH, I AM ORDERING TWO MORE. IT'S STYLISH AND WILL STAND OUT IN ANY STYLE KITCHEN.
