Book Description

May 12, 2008
“The sensation of falling was terrifying…we tumbled out of the realm of the heavenly light into perpetual darkness. We had not seen darkness before—not like this anyway…”

A strange man shows up at the office of language expert Samantha Yale with a mysterious scroll written in an even more mysterious language. As she begins to translate, she discovers an eyewitness account of the war in heaven from an angel who sided with Lucifer and then deeply regretted his decision. The tale is hard to believe…but impossible to ignore.

Linda Rios Brook brings new depth of imagery into the spirit world and scholarship to the old debate, “What happened to the world between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2?” Part intriguing theological exploration, part swashbuckling adventure, Lucifer’s Flood presents an equally fascinating and frightening tale of prehistoric heaven and Earth.

4.0 out of 5 stars an interesting quick read, March 1, 2005
This review is from: Lucifer's Flood (Paperback)
Lucifer's Flood is book one in a planned trilogy. This book is told as a narrative from a demon that reports to Lucifer/Satan. It covers all of the events from Creation to the birth of Moses and how much that it enraged Satan. It also clarifies most of the misconceptions that we have about Adam & Eve and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, and the events leading up to the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. It also covers small things such as just how much God really loves fish, and the rules he bends to protect them.

1.0 out of 5 stars Missed Opportunity, July 22, 2009
By
This review is from: Lucifer's Flood (Reluctant Demon Diaries) (Paperback)
I feel like this book was just a great opportunity missed out. I picked it up expecting something completely different. What I got was a goofy demon, a God that seemed to do things out of spite to Satan, and overall just bad characterizations.

The storyline was okay, but I mean really it was just a retelling of the Bible in some cases.

I understand that some demons can be pitiful and that currently they are something viewed pathetically and sympathetically. I have problems with that as a whole, but it was not the reason I disliked this book.

What I didn't like about this book was how short it felt. The characters fell short, the plot fell short, even the God fell short. If you expected something epic out of this book, you do not get it. There is not action either or any conflict except the demon feeling that God is unfair. If you have at one point read any of Paradise Lost, I would recommend skipping over this book in its entirety.

Maybe I am just a bit jaded, but I do not like reading whiny POVs. One of the most feared beings in existence being whiny just ups that annoyance so much more

5.0 out of 5 stars INTERESTING, June 6, 2008
This review is from: Lucifer's Flood (Reluctant Demon Diaries) (Paperback)
This book is interesting in that it discusses and breaches many topics that the church doesn't analyze further. It is good in that it shows a perspective that many of us wouldn't have otherwise thought about. The thought of a demon who is sad that it had been involved in the rebellion is interesting. She tells a fascinating story from the rebellion to the gardern filled with interesting theories including different dimensions.
