This DVD set of "Here's Lucy" is fantastic. DVD quality is superb!! Time was definetly put into making sure this set was done right. There are 24 episodes and the jacket says there are 14 commentaries by Lucie Arnaz, Desi Arnaz Jr., Carol Burnett and Wayne Newton. Most commentaries are done by Lucie and Desi Jr. . You can watch these particular episodes normally or with the commentaries. There are 11 episodes with commentaries. Not sure where the other 3 are. I haven't watched all the episodes and special features yet. I have listed the guest appearances, hopefully this will help others. Six episodes per disc and special features:
Disc 1: Lucy Meets The Burtons w/commentary: Elizabeth Taylor & Richard Burton Lucy And Johnny Carson: Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon Lucy And Carol Burnett w/comentary: Carol Burnett Lucy and Lawrence Welk: Lawrence Welk and Vivian Vance Lucy The Fixer w/comentary: no guest Lucy Visits Jack Benny: Jack Benny and Jackie Gleason Special features Disc 2: Lucy and Sammy Davis Jr.: Sammy Davis Jr. Lucy and Miss Shelley Winters: Shelley Winters Lucy and the Generation Gap w/comentary: episode without a guest Lucy the Crusader: Charles Nelson Reilly Lucy and the Little Old Lady: Helen Hayes Lucy and Donny Osmond w/comentary: Donny Osmond (my personal favorite-I can't help it....I was Osmondized in the 70's) special features Disc 3: Lucy Sells Craig to Wayne Newton w/comentary: Wayne Newton Lucy The Matchmaker: Vivian Vance Lucy and the Used Car Dealer: Milton Berle Lucy and Ann-Margret w/comentary: Ann Margret Lucy The Skydiver: no guest Ginger Rogers Comes To Tea: Ginger Rogers Special Features Disc 4: Lucy and Flip Go Legit: Flip Wilson Lucy Joins the Air Force Academy part 1 w/comentary:no guest Lucy Joins the Air Force Academy part 2 w/comentary: no guest Lucy and Jack Benny's Biography: Jack Benny and George Burns Lucy Is Really In A Pickle w/comentary: no guest With Viv As A Friend,Who Needs an Enemy w/comentary: Vivian Vance Special Features Overall I like this DVD set.

OK, we all know HERE'S LUCY isn't her best work, but this set is well worth the price for fans. There are lots of guest stars, the shows look amazing and are completely uncut, and there is a wealth of extra features included.
Don't bother getting angry with Lucie and Desi Jr about the earlier series THE LUCY SHOW not being well represented on DVD either, as they don't own the right to that series. I really prefer the complete season format on DVD releases but in this case, I am not complaining. I do wish we'd had a few more of the shows that didn't feature guest stars but rather concentrated on the regular cast but I guess they felt the stars would help sales. Hopefully this set will do well and they may do another volume of 24 more shows soon.

3RD SERIES SHINES BEAUTIFULY IN DIGITAL,
By
This review is from: Lucille Ball Here's Lucy (DVD)
I've only been through Disc 1 and that disc alone is a treasure trove.
Naturally, the most famous HERE'S LUCY episode is included, where Lucy encounters Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor and ends up getting Elizabeth's huge diamond ring stuck on her finger. Other episodes include guest appearances by Jack Benny, Carol Burnett, Sammy Davis Jr., Shelley Winters, Helen Hayes, among others. One hilarious episode with just the regular cast, including Gale Gordon, Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz, Jr., has Lucy destroying Harry's house looking for some loose wires. DVD remastering is superb with great commentary by Lucie, Desi Jr and Carol Burnett on selected episodes. Picture clarity is the best I've seen and "stereo" sound for a TV series of that era. Also includes Blooper reels of outtakes, mistakes, rehearsals of actual shows with some "surprise" visitors to the set, and spots from Lucy guest appearances on other specials with guest stars that appeared on her show. My disappointment was Best Buy and Target "not" having it on day of release and Barnes & Noble having "one" that I grabbed, even at full price. This is shocking for anything "Lucy" for fans that want to go to the store. Are some retailers forgetting who she was? If you get it, ENJOY! To one of the reviewers above....YES....both LUCY THE FIXIT and LUCY AND LAWRENCE WELK, with VIVIAN VANCE are included in this set! I'm sorry that the CHUCK CONNORS episode, as well as MY FAIR BUZZI didn't make the cut.

One of the BEST TV Show DVD Releases Out There!!,
This review is from: Lucille Ball Here's Lucy (DVD)
This boxed set of "Here's Lucy" is fantastic. The extras, the packaging, picture, and sound quality were all great. Although the episode selection was not the best, there are still some really phenomenal episodes (like "Lucy Meets the Burtons", "Lucy, the Fixer", "Ginger Rogers Comes to Tea", "Lucy & Jack Benny's Autobiography", etc.). Just the extras (like a clip from Ann-Margret's TV special, "Here's Lucy" syndication tape, original network promos, commentaries, etc.) make this set worth buying, and with a retail price of $35. The episode transfers were made from 35mm master prints, so the picture and sound quality are outstanding. Lucie & Desi Jr.'s audio commentaries are very informative and enjoyable to hear. This set is a must have for any fan of classic TV shows or Lucille Ball. I hope upcoming "Here's Lucy" sets will be released. It is really incredible how much work and effort was put into creating this set. Thanks to everyone who worked on this masterpiece of a TV-DVD set. This is really one of the best TV show DVD releases out there. A great DVD release for a great TV series.

I remember watching this program every Monday night on CBS. It's is about time this classic series made it to DVD! This show highlighted and set the stage for Lucille Ball's children. It's a shame that this series is not aired in the Chicago area in reruns. As a parent my children has never seen this program and there isn't many family programs that children can watch with parental supervision. I'm am looking forward for this program release!!Van E Hill, Jr-Bellwood, Illinois

This DVD is excellent! Let's hope that Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz
Jr. release more of the episodes of Here's Lucy! Please! It is truly part of our American Television Heritage. In my opinion, (if it has any weight) we don't always need an episode with a famous guest star as there are plenty of hilarious episodes with just the regular cast memebers (including the fabulous character of Mary Jane!-who pops in and out from time to time). Please give us more, Lucie and Desi! We truly need more of this terrific type of comedy, especially with today's entertainment selections (which are nothing to write home about!)

THE "Here's Lucy" package IS really wonderful. I did not expect it to be filled with such hilarious and outstanding bonus extras!! Not to mention the wonderful memories flooding back to me from each episode. I haven't felt this good and excited about a TV box set package in a long time. The celebrity guests alone make this a worthy purchase for fan and or collector!! Johnny Carson, Liz Taylor, Jack Benny, Wayne Newton, Carol Burnett, Desi Arnaz Jr. and DONNY OSMOND (just to mention a few)!! Truly outstanding and Funny!! A real enjoyment!!

Watching these episodes brought back so many memories. Maybe the acting wasn't the greatest, but seeing all those fabulous stars, many long gone, is just wonderful. I've watched these with my sons who have truly enjoyed them as well.

This is an excellent DVD. I am a "Lucyfan" since 1968. I grew up watching the first runs of this show and I think it holds up even better today! The children are excellent additions to the show--the shows with Ann-Margaret, Wayne Newton and Flip Wilson prove that the kids were just as big talents as mom herself--I hope the entire series is released season by season. To Lucie and Desi, Jr my sincere thanks for releasing memories that take me back to a kindler gentler time in my life. I will always Love Lucy--whether she is a Ricardo, a Carmicheal, a Carter and even a Barker!
