Customer Reviews

Definitely a book worth owning!
Samantha A. Beaty
The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that there was way too much reference to smoking and lighting the cigarette that I felt distracted from the story.
B. Rocha
This tale is full of suspenseful twists, laugh out loud lines and, best of all, characters that are true to life.
K. Wright

Dorothy Morrison's first fiction novel, Lucinda's Web, is better than I had anticipated. The plot keeps you turning the pages late into the night and the characters are fantastically written.

Definitely a book worth owning!

Now, I don't read to much fiction but I was pleasantly surprised upon picking up this book. The character of Tess Logan made me giggle out loud nearly at the turn of every page. I very much enjoy the authors books on magick which urged me to get this book. I am very glad I did! I read it the whole way through in just a day or two and and I'm very happy with it.

I bought this book because I was familiar with non-fiction works
by the author and because of all the 5 star reviews. Was sorely
disappointed. Yes, it does read like a first novel. The plot is so-so.
The attempts at "cute", like Chloe who has been studying for years
but is only a 'wish' not a real 'witch' are too much. I don't mind
characters smoking. People smoke. But when all the characters smoke
like chimneys, it's distracting. I passed it along to a friend, who
when finished said she understood why I said to wait till she read
it before she thanked me. If I was just judging the book by its cover,
it would have had 5 stars. But alas, the content drops it down to 2.

Being a fan of Ms. Morrison, I was curious about her first fiction novel. She did a wonderful job! How she did weave an interesting web. It was a page turner, well worth the price. I can't wait for her next novel!

While I really liked the premise of this book and it had some great twists and turns, I wish Ms. Morrison would take care with all the exclamation points and italics she uses; dialogue came off overly dramatic, and the italics got wearying. But that said, the book was interesting and had a good base story. I look forward to seeing how her fiction writing grows.

Very readable -- once you get used to the idea that absolutely everyone in the book smokes, and a few of them don't seem to be able to talk without conversation full of profanity -- even when talking to deities, which is a truly iffy practice. But it's an interesting and complex story line that leads me to want to learn more about Voodoo. I like Dorothy Morrison's writing, and if she writes a sequel to this book, I'd buy it!
