Product Description

LUCINI hand picks at precisely the right time and presses our olives within 24 hours of harvest to produce a delicious olive oil with less than 1/2 the acidity of regular extra virgin. The lower the acidity, the higer the quality. Compared to bland, regular extra virgin olive oil, LUCINI's authentic flavor confirms that nothing is added, nothing is taken away.

I picked this up at whole foods while shopping, based on America Test Kitchen's best super market oil recommendation, and really love this oil. It's not particularly spicy but has a great heady fruity aroma that's just divine. I wouldn't cook with it but as a condiment drizzled on pasta, meat, ripe summer tomatoes, and of course in dressing, it raises the dish a few levels.

The taste is amazing. I am very happy with the oil and with the price I paid for it at Walmart if I remember correctly.

However, I found two problems: the bottle is not dark to better protect the oil from sunlight, and there is no pressing date mentioned. I have read online that the health benefits of olive oil do not last long unless the oil is stored properly. Also, the younger the oil, the better. From my Lucini bottle, I really can't tell when the oil was cold-pressed. One more thing, the oil itself is very clear, which might indicate filtration and processing not mentioned on the bottle.

So, if taste is what is important, then the Lucini oil is just wonderful. If quality matters, then the bottle makes me somewhat suspicious.

This is a delicious oil for whatever purpose you desire. I use it to saute chicken and veggies all the time and don't believe in the "to delicate to heat" tack of thinking. Use it as you would butter in a saute. Just hot enough to sizzle but not smoke. It makes a much better saute than canola oil does. Out of this world on fresh sliced tomatoes with finely chopped fresh basil. And, of course, its great in pesto. Still, don't be afraid to get it hot! Enjoy!

I wanted a special olive oil for dipping bread, solo dressing on vegetables, etc. Uses where you really taste the product. Not for cooking. Lucini was recommended in some taste tests. It is very very good for my purposes.[[Lucini Extra Virgin Olive Oil 25oz
