TV is an off-kilter sort of independent artist that many people surely can be put off of, especially on first bite, and I can't really offer a blanket recommendation for "people in general". Personally I dug Vek immediately back in the day, from the first time "I Ain't Saying My Goodbyes" passed through my ears almost a decade ago now, off of an AA inflight indy music channel with a list of tunes generated from bands or artists that clearly were for the most part either posers or mere wanna-be's, trying very hard but not hitting any sort of sweet spot. On hearing that tune, I felt a deep artistic soul behind the unconventional vocal stylings and garagey arrangements, and my response was "yes, that is it, we have a real live one.". Did I see Vek as destined for major stardom? I didn't know and from here who knows, but, not at all surprising to me, he has continued to make a real go of it. Vek is one who I feel will surely at minimum continue to have his scenes and following, and need not retreat back into the woodwork. So here in 2014, the haul continues, and we have a good load here.

So far, after 3 listens, I've got a solid 4 stars for Luck and it might yet grow to 4 and a half. The overall quality does not quite match any "best of" compilation of a major artist, something that we may see down the road, and at this point, I feel that "Leisure Seizure", is just a bit stronger. But the top tunes, "Sherman" (which for me is just killer), "Ton of Bricks", and "You'll Stay" more than make the grade, and several others are real close to tops as well. The complete journey, once and if you take to this ecletic soul, should not require you to hit the skip button at any point. Try the "Sherman" song and vid for 2 or 3 turns...if you can turn on to that tune, go from there, do a buy and join the growing fan club.

Album is fine but Amazon really has dropped the ball when it comes to shipping LPs lately. Seriously.... the flimsy cardboard mailer is just one step above putting the label on the record itself. I guess they'll try that next.
