Luckey Roberts is one of the great early stride pianists. His touch is sweet; his approach is fluid. He has a wonderful way with the keys that will touch you deeply. He's economical, but not stingy. The middle tracks on this album -- Inner Space and Outer Space -- are superb; as good as it gets. This is one of the most underrated harlem stride pianists of all time.

This is a beautiful album. It is both a pleasure to listen to and an important historical record. It offers us late recordings of two of jazz history's most important stride pianists, recording in their old age. As this album shows, these men entered no decline. We are lucky to possess such a rich retrospective.
