I love the way Kelley Vitollo writes banter in relationships - it's witty, fun, and sexy.
In alternating POV, this book is spot on, and the characters both have great depth, interesting backstories, and I love stories of lost loves finding each other again.
The love story definitely lives up to the premise.
Fab read :-D

I loved this book! I read it one sitting because I was so totally pulled into one of the best romances I've read. ~sigh~ I adored Kade and Sidney - the emotion and chemistry between them was so real and their feelings for each other so palpable, that they leapt off the page, and I felt like I was right there in the story, getting to know them and rooting for them. The writing was seamless - a truly wonderful read that was a fantastic blend of romance, heartwarming emotion, and irresistible characters. I didn't want the story to end, and I can't wait to read more from Kelley Vitollo!

Sidney, Peaches, escaped to LA to follow her dreams of becoming an actress. Well like most people who do the same thing, struggle on casting calls, but she managed to land a few commercials and a boyfriend in the same career path. Well her last audition didn't go the way she wanted, boyfriend lands a movie and is moving to NY. With no boyfriend, no acting jobs, and the overwhelming feeling of needing to run, Sidney finds herself heading back to the very place she left.

Kelly Vitollo is an amazing writer who had me falling in love with Kade from the beginning and routing for Sidney to realize she was worth love. You have to and I mean HAVE to read this book!

Lucky Break was the perfect beginning to what is sure to be a great series. I fell in love with all of the characters in this lovely story. It was heartfelt, romantic, and made me feel a bit nostalgic.

Sidney....hmmm, what to say about Sidney. When I first started reading the book, I wasn't sure I was going to connect with her. Then, I began to get a clearer picture of how her life was like and really started to relate to her. Not that I had the same circumstances, but I related to the feelings she had. Her mother left her behind to pursue a career in acting. As a result, Sidney never felt valued. However, she had the love and support of her aunt and her friends, Rowan and Kade. So when Sidney suddenly left town to pursue what she thought was her dream, she left the people she loved confused and upset. Exactly what had happened to her. But, when she returns to Shamrock Falls, she begins to repair those friendships. Rowan was excited to have her friend back, but Kade is still a bit wounded.

Kade pulled at my heart. He is just such a sweet guy. He always puts everyone else's needs above his own. His past broke my heart. It made me so glad to see the glimpses of their past and that Sidney was there by HIS side to support him through his painful home life as a kid. When she left him after high school, he was devastated. Even though it's been five years, that pain is still there, but he and Sidney can't deny the connection they share. I loved watching them acknowledge their love for each other. It was truly a great love story.

The supporting characters were all fantastic and I look forward to seeing what's in store for them all. I think I'm going to have a soft spot for Jace. I already think he's pretty dreamy....

Overall, Lucky Break was just one of those stories that makes you feel good. I was already a fan of Kelley Vitollo and this book is yet another example why. She's created a cast of characters that you can relate to, root for, and fall in love with. If you haven't read this one yet, definitely check it out! Read more ›

Sidney is an aspiring actress in LA. When she hits a bump in the road she heads back to her little hometown where she runs into Kade Mitchell... her childhood best friend that she ditched after high school. And this is their story. ;o)

Likeable characters. Obvious chemistry. You root for Sidney and Kade to make it work. There are flashbacks of their past without being overbearing or boring (can you tell I normally hate flashbacks in a book? ;o) ). Their relationship has a deep foundation and you get swept away in their love.

Cute story. I would definitely recommend it. The story moved and blended beautifully. I enjoyed the banter between the characters. And I hope we get to read Freckles' story. =)

And on a side note- I read a lot of independent authors, and/or books that don't have editors so there are always major typos. This was a breath of fresh air to read a book that had been edited and had no typos. :)

... is a time-honored romance trope, and this book illustrates why. No white-washed childhood memories, but the depiction of the youthful love and support, well, we all should be so lucky. These characters have compelling backstories that make them fear hurting each other, but their deep connection eventually helps them trust, not only in their beloved, but in themselves. This talented author beautifully ties up all the story threads in a most satisfying ending.

More About the Author

Kelley has been writing for as long as she can remember. She won her first writing contest in third grade for an essay she wrote on, "Tomorrow's Leaders on the Move". Like dreams sometimes do, they fell to the background for a while. She married her best friend, worked full time, and started her family. In 2004 Kelley, her husband and their new baby girl made a move from Oregon to Southern California and that's when everything changed. As a stay-at-home mom for the first time, her passion for writing flared to life again.
