Product Description

There's a reason that objects like the Lucky Bums Wood Toboggan - 48 in. become heirlooms. When something is built with quality, and then used to create cherished holiday memories, why wouldn't it become something you want to hand down to your kids? Get started on the heirloom process today by bringing home this classic, hand-made toboggan. The curved front will protect your feet while the sled pad takes some sting out of those bumpy snow drifts. If your kids aren't quite big enough for those downhill adventures, you can always pull them behind you with the included pull rope. Eventually, they'll be the one doing the pulling. Recommended ages 3 to adult.  Dimensions: 48L x 18W inches.   About Lucky Bums Subsidiary LLC In 2004, after years of wondering why nobody was making safe, fun, appropriate outdoor equipment for kids, Jeff and Julie Streeter were forced to hand-make a ski-training harness for their 18-month old son, because nobody offered one that they felt was either safe or appropriate. As they started producing more of these hand-made harnesses in their spare time, it became apparent that people all over the country, and soon the world, agreed that somebody needed to pay attention to the specialized needs children demand from their outdoor equipment. Soon, the Streeter's side-job of creating outdoor products for kids began to take off. In 2008, Lucky Bums expanded to provide children's outdoor equipment for hiking, fishing, camping, and hunting. Lucky Bums products were now outfitting children across the US, as well as in Europe, Canada, and Japan. Today, Lucky Bums outdoor products are sold in over 2000 stores worldwide, while the company continues to produce outdoor products that meet the needs of active children, and that parents can always trust. Handmade toboggan in the classic shape. Sled pad for extra comfort. Accommodates 3 children or 2 adults. Perfect for sledding or as holiday decoration. Dimensions: 48L x 18W inches.

I bought this sled for a friend so that he and his daughter could join me and mine on weekend sledding adventures. The toboggan itself is sturdy and well constructed, but the padding and pull rope are very poorly made. The rope feels and looks more decorative than practical and the pad ties to the rope along the edges with straps that are very flimsy. After just one run down the hill, most (if not all) of the tie straps had ripped away from the pad. The pad too is flimsy at best as the padding inside is practically non existent.

Again, it's worth noting that the sled (the thing you're really buying here) is very well made. But having a pad for a toboggan is a nice feature especially for young kids. Plan on replacing these element immediately.

I bought this sight unseen here on Amazon as a gift, and had it shipped directly to the recipients. My two grandsons, 8 and 10 yo, weighing about 120lbs all totaled, went down a moderate, well used sledding/toboggan trail two times. On the third trip, the toboggan lost a few side slats and several length slats cracked and broke. As I said, it was a well used, moderate trail; no trees, boulders, air achieving jumps, or hairpin turns. Very disappointing Christmas gift, as you can imagine. Lucky Bums indeed that no one was injured. Amazon was very helpful and responsive. They get an A+, whereas the Lucky Bums, well, F is as low as our scoring goes. As I said, they are lucky.. My experience with them wouldn't rate that high.

I had to return the first one I received because one of the wood slats had been cracked and fixed with wood filler (obviously done at the factory.) the replacement (overnighted by Amazon who has amazing customer service) had a similar defect right at the front bend, but not as bad as the first so I kept it. I hope this thing lasts more than one winter!

The wooden toboggan that I ordered through Eddie Bauer came quickly and at first I was surprised by the workmanship roughness on some parts (front plate not straight, rope ends weak...overall no biggie). It is thin and light but it seems flexible and resilient. Some things needed improvement, like the ties on the pad, and the rope(seems weak and short-lasting). Overall, 'boggon is great but I myself had to improve few things - got a new, real rope and reinforced all six ties). It should last 'forever' now, as was my target when making this investment. I expected slightly better for about $200 and EB's endorsement. Bottom line, I recommend; however, there should be better value out there. The company's website states that it does have a limited lifetime warranty on workmanship. It also says it carries 3 adults, and up to 300lbs - avg. adult weight is substantially more than 100lbs I'd say (kinda silly). Enjoy...

It looks wonderful and substantial and like a great investment for future sledding... however it doesn't slide. So really, get this for staging photographs of you sledding down the hill. They'll come out perfect. I was so disappointed. It didn't work to begin with, and even after we had a beautiful packed run. At no point would this slide down the hill, a fairly steep hill, I might add, so it should have flown. I'm glad my friend brought a cheap plastic toboggan or we wouldn't have had any fun at all. Very disappointing.

We ordered this sled for our son's birthday. We were excited to get a "classic" toboggan. However, the product is very poorly constructed. The wooden slats are completely uneven and very rough. Much of the bottom wasn't varnished and there were many splinters sticking out. We returned the item immediately, so I can't say how well it would work on snow. However, given how bad the finish was and how uneven the slats were, I can't imagine it working well.

Still waiting for refund. Returned due to this being a piece of junk. Okay but pricey if you wanted to mount on your wall. Workmanship suffered greatly. Looks like they used old pallet wood to build...cracked an not usable as a toboggan more than the first disasterous run down hill!
