This review is from: Lucky Charm (Audio CD)
Matt "Guitar" Murphy is legendary, from The Blues Brothers as much as anything else. However he's a good guitar player and this disc is just good time rockin' blues, r&b, and funk numbers. It's not something for purists, but if you go to a club this is what lesser known acts often play to try and get over with the audience. It's good time music and is great for driving along to. It lacks the depth of emotion that a GREAT blues disc has, but it's still blues influenced and tons of fun. It won't compare to Otis Rush's Rigth Place, Wrong Time or Robert Johnson's recordings or Muddy Water's best Chess sides, but it will get your feet to tapping and sometimes that's good enough. For those times this is a fine disc.
