Ladies and Gentlemen, the redemption of Joy Lynn White,
By A Customer
This review is from: Lucky Few (Audio CD)
After being molded and carted through Nashville's cookie cutter industry, Joy Lynn was dropped from her record deal with Sony Nashville, Lucky for her!! The diva recorded two good but slicky produced albums in Nashville that failed to spawn a hit. She is now signed to an independent label. The record is a classic!!! At times, her voice rings through like a bat out of hell on "Too Big For This Town" (seemingly a take on leaving the Nashville industry). Other times, it oozes pure heartache on tunes such as "I Doubt If It Does To You" and "I Lost It" (an outstanding cover of an old Lucinda Williams tune.) Joy Lynn, like Kelly Willis (another excellent songstress who is now on her own after escaping NAshville, Tennessee)seems to have found herself with an independent record deal. This lattle gal has a voice as big as Texas and it shines through like redemption on the title cut!!1 Buy this record, you won't be sorry

Joy survives the rejection of Nashville,
By A Customer
This review is from: Lucky Few (Audio CD)
I have been a fan of Joy for a long time now. It's really depressing that she is not more widely known. How is it fair that Shania Twain is so big, when she is so awful? It is even more maddening that the Dixie Chicks cover of lfjldsjfl has become a huge radio hit when it is so inferior to Joy's cover. I was so excited when I got The Lucky Few because of the songwriters, Jim Lauderdale, and Lucinda Williams. Plus the duet with Dwight Yoakam. Pete Anderson was another name that I already knew. The Lucky Few is a must have in any C.D. collection.

A great new voice singing original songs!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Lucky Few (Audio CD)
Personally I had not heard of Joy Lynn White before a recent concert with Lucinda Williams but am very glad I have now. She has a very powerful voice and I really enjoy the songs she's selected for this CD. She sang many new songs at the concert and can't wait for new material to be released. I recommend this CD very highly.
