"I Go Back" to Kenny's old music.,
By
This review is from: Lucky Old Sun Deluxe (Audio CD)
I'm a huge fan of Kenny Chesney's music. I have all of his CDs. I've seen him in concert a number of times. All that doesn't mean that I am not objective when it comes to his music though. His past couple of albums have not been up to par. I want the old Kenny music back. A mix of upbeat and slow songs, songs about the beach and songs about growing up and everything else, but not just slow songs about the beach. Most of the songs on this album would not ever hit radio if it wasn't Chesney singing them. There are a few good ones, like Way Down Here, but for the most part everything sounds the same and is not real creative, musicly. So, for now, I will just "go back" and listen to some of his old stuff until he comes out of this musical mid-life crisis.

I first heard this CD while staying with my sister as she coped with the loss of her husband. This CD played automatically at 8 A.M. in her kitchen audio system, and was her "wake up call" each morning. We both took great comfort from the lyrics and melody of the lead song, "I Am Alive." The rest of the album continues the affirmations of living life to it's fullest while that is still an option. I just had to have this wonderful album in my own collection.

I love Kenny Chesney songs. While he may not be the best singer in the world, his songs are so easy to relate to and many make me wish I was on the beach. This album has three collaborations, including "I'm Alive" with Dave Matthews that has great sounding guitar and is a very deep song, and the title track "Lucky Old Sun" with Willie Nelson which is a song that rings true to Kenny's style. This album has less of the summer anthems that Kenny is well known for, but it a nice addition to his discography.

I think this is the first time I've loved every song on an album. I'd heard "I'm Alive" on the radio and went looking for it. Found a treasure.

I bought the CD for my husband, because he likes country music. He loves it and I too!!!! Our favorite track is : I'm Alive and Well. We hear it every time we feel stressed and it immediately lifts our spirits. A great buy!

My Favorite Chesney album yet!,

For me I can relate to many of the songs on this album. I have most if not all of these songs on my IPOD and listen to them frequently. I'm Alive is my personal favorite followed by nowhere to go nowhere to be. I'm alive was actually recorded by Willy Nelson previously. As for the tone of this Album. Yeah its different from other albums he has put out. What do you expect from a man who went through a divorce and all of the hard life choices he has had in the past what 4 years. The break up of any relationship is never easy and to have it in the public eye makes it worse. Give the guy a break he has hard times just like the rest of us. I'm sure that nobody reading this is perfect and if in the same situation wouldn't do some if not all of the things he has done. The experiences he has gone through lately are going to change the tone of his songs and albums. If a person is going through rough times his music is going to be less happy less flamboyant. For me that makes me like Kenny even more. It makes him real. He's a person too.

I love Kenny Chesney, but this one is a little melancholy on the one hand and recklessly beer soaked on the other...not my fave

Lucky Old Sun has replaced Be As You Are as my all time favorite cd! Love it! A good Caribbean/coastal groove, but with a depth and maturity that was not present in the earlier cd. I first discovered Kenny Chesney while staying in St. John a few years ago, where it is out-and-out trendy to love Kenny. We were sailing and my host cut the engine, hoisted the sail, and put on Be As You Are as we skimmed across the Caribbean Sea at sunset. I was hooked! So glad to have another salty soul cd! Why-oh-why didn't I buy it when it first came out?!
