Back indeed,

The finest work since Superfuzz Bigmuff and Mudhoney. It is different but after 20 years what else would you expect? These guys have been solid for years and can still get it done better than 95% of the other crap out there right now.

20 years of garage rocking!!,

Mudhoney are back and still better than almost all the competition. Not a lot of innovation in style on this record yet it is hard to think of a current band who sound quite like Mudhoney and even harder to think of one who rock as much! Mark Arm's voice is still a thing to behold after all these years and "tales of terror" and "I'm now" are up there with Mudhoneys best songs! 20 years on and the great grunge survivors are still around to show the rest how it should be done!

Raw and powerful, the Lucky Ones is the Mudhoney record we've been waiting for. The previous two albums had some 'Bright Spots' but were somewhat lacking. With The Lucky Ones, the Mudhoney guys are finally playing to their strengths again. Three years later, I'm still spinning the album. More please.

Mark Arm's vocals lose no intensity! Let the sonic assault continue,

From one of the most passionate singers comes Mudhoney's newest contribution to sonic assault. Mark Arm's voice loses no intensity after all these years, and Turner's guitar work remains just as menacing. The songs are more straight forward than their previous records, but they still flow organically. "And The Shimmering Light" and "We Are Rising" follow where Under A Billion Suns left off, but the psychedlia from Since We've Become Translucent isn't as present.
"Next Time" is a brutal, bluesy song of lust and "New Meaning" can very well be a love song, but Mudhoney style! Mudhoney still commands a stage and Mark Arm proves just why his soulful, angry vocals send shivers down the spines of any fan lucky enough to be in the front row.

Like a lot of people, I've been listening to Mudhoney since the early 90's. This is as good a record as they've ever put out. I would recommend it to someone who's never heard a Mudhoney record before (thus the five star rating). Frankly, if you like The Stooges, you'll be amazed - - I think this record was made in the Fun House itself.
The title song "The Lucky Ones" might be my favorite new song of 2008. Treat yourself to the vinyl version. Great package - free mp3 coupon AND a bonus 7-inch. Awesome!

...or maybe I'm becoming one of those old-farts trying to re-live my youth. These guys don't get enough credit, pick this one up.
