5.0 out of 5 stars Everyone should hear this album - BUY IT!, July 7, 2009
This review is from: The Lucky Ones (Audio CD)
Whenever I hear a new release like this, I have renewed faith that rock and roll LIVES. Pride Tiger's vocalist sounds like he's channeling Phil Lynott - and that is what we need in the year 2009! This a great collection of tunes - all killer/no filler!

Featuring a guitar sound that is also reminiscent of Thin Lizzy, these guys are just the right mixture of retro and modern rock! Check out "Let 'Em Go", "The Lucky Ones", "White Witch Woman Blues", and "What It Is". These tracks give you a decent representation of what the rest of the album has in store. There is literally not a track on this album you will want to skip over!

Another good retro sounding album is "Where the Water Rises", by Dead Coyote, available for download from Amazon. Check out a few clips from this excellent debut, and you will see what I mean!

And another criminally underrated band is ZO2 - sounds like the best of 70's era Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin. They have three albums, the newest being "Casino Logic". I have all three, and have never heard a bad track from them. Check them out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Thin Lizzy done right, April 3, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

This is one hot CD. If you like Thin Lizzy done up 70's style then look no further. I was blown away by how good this CD is and how much like the old Thin Lizzy this band sounds. Excellent all around. These guys need much, much more airplay in America. And America needs more bands Like Pride of Tigers

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Thin Lizzy-style rock n' roll album, March 4, 2011
This review is from: The Lucky Ones (Audio CD)
I'm going to ramble on a while about Pride Tiger's debut The Lucky Ones, but I could probably cover it with just four words - "sounds like Thin Lizzy." Given all of the retro rock bands on the scene who fixate on the sounds of Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, it's beyond cool to see a band like Pride Tiger taking a cue from one of the most incredible (and incredibly overlooked) classic rock n' roll bands.

Pride Tiger has the twin lead guitar sound and tone similar to Thin Lizzy's, and Matt Wood (who is also the drummer) is doing his best Phil Lynott impression on this album. Beyond the Thin Lizzy worship, The Lucky Ones has a great, upbeat, rock n' roll energy and spirit, and is incredibly fun to listen to. It's a shame more modern rock bands don't take this approach. It seems like having fun isn't allowed anymore in mainstream rock.

If you're into retro minded bands like Parlor Mob, Wolfmother, Stone Rider and Priestess, or just the classic bands they take inspiration from, you'll want to give Pride Tiger a try. The Lucky Ones is a terrific rock n' roll album from a band that should go far.

Straight on Rock and Roll... Shades of 70's rock and early 90's stuff... A little bit Thin Lizzie, some Dinosaur Jr and a pinch of former local Montreal band The Nils thrown in for good measure and voila, you have a great CD!

Somewhere..... Somewhere... beyond the fields we know.. stands Phil Lynott.

He hears Pride Tiger.. and he`s smiling. A wide smile.

As I said: The Chosen one`s know... Brent`s right ! Nuff said !
