1.0 out of 5 stars A horrible behavioral role model for kids . . . ., February 27, 2005
This book shows us a child who is very ungrateful and constantly "embarassed" by his Grandma who is "different" from what he thinks a "typical" Grandma should be. (Of course, now days those stereotypes are OFTEN wrong) The child's attitude stinks. He should be grateful to have a grandma who spends time with him! The Grandma at one point also lies to get a man to put out his cigar and thinks that she shouldn't have to wait in line to buy ball game tickets like everyone else simply because she is a grandma (who doesn't have any health problems and is very active, so that is not a factor). Way to go to be a good role model, Grandma! We were so disgusted by this book and its very poor messages to kids that we didn't even finish reading it. Even if it was "all worked out in the end" (which it really isn't), the bad behavior and attitudes along the way are not excused or apologized for adequately or at all. I would NOT recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story about a boy and his grandmother, October 9, 1999
By A Customer
This is a book for a beginning reader. It captures the relationship of a typical nine year old and his grandmother who is not so "typical." Illustrated with lovely photos, it has an engaging family centered story line and includes a trip to a baseball stadium.
