Do yourself a favor and "get lucky"...,
This review is from: Get Lucky (Tall, Dark & Dangerous, Book 9) (Paperback)
I've loved the TDD series since Prince Joe, the first book and I have to admit, Joe is my favorite, but Lucky runs a pretty close second. It's great to finally see Lucky grow up and find love just as most of the other SEALS have. The storyline with the serial rapist on the loose (and the possibility that one of Alpha squad is involved) was great and the interplay between the SEALS and their wives and friends is wonderful. Sydney is definitely a worthy heroine and her habit of referring to the incredibly handsome Lucky as "Navy Ken" is hysterical. Ignore the cover photo and picture Lucky as he was meant to be - the most incredible of all the incredible men of Alpha Squad. For those of us who would mourn leaving these guys, word is that Bobby and Wes will be getting their own books and with the introduction of 3 younger" SEALS, this series could keep on going indefinitely. PLEASE say that's so, Suze; I, for one, would sure hate to say goodbye to these TDD men! Thanks for a great set of books and please keep them coming.

Atrocious Cover/ Wonderful Story,

This review is from: Get Lucky (Tall, Dark & Dangerous, Book 9) (Paperback)
This book should be the poster child for Don't Judge a Book by It's Cover. Does anyone else think the guy looks like a blond Lt. Bud Roberts from JAG?I read the Admiral's Bride, Identity: Unknown and this book all in one week-end, and am now trying to find the others. The entire series is wonderful, and according to her website, one more is due to be released early next year, and the possibility of others. The scene in the kitchen was wonderful. The characters are developed... I can't recommend it enough. I just wish the epilogue had continued to just past the I do's. Of course, since each book updates us a bit on the other characters... Can't imagine anyone not liking this book! Adventure, romance, real love, humor. It has it all! Check out Suzanne's website. She is trying to encourage a reprinting of the earlier books. There is an address to add your support to this campaign. Especially since it is so difficult to find them!

Going out with a BANG!,

This review is from: Get Lucky (Tall, Dark & Dangerous, Book 9) (Paperback)
For those of you who have faithfully kept up with Suz's Tall, Dark and Dangerous series, this one will not disappoint. I have to admit that I wasn't a complete fan of the last two in the series (I liked them, but not LOVED them) and was worried about how the last one would turn out. Lucky has finally grown up and what a "man" he turned into. Blue is still my favorite but after a second reading I may be a little fickle :-). The characters are completely real and the plot is strong and keeps you wanting more. I read it in one sitting. Make sure you get a copy (and ingore the horrendous cover), Suz, you have my condolences on the not so attractive "Lucky" on the cover. If you are new to the series, don't hesitate to get the rest of them. They are ALL keepers, as are all of Suzanne Brockmann's stories. Thanks, Suz, for a great SEAL series!

Lucky has finally found his match!,
This review is from: Get Lucky (Tall, Dark & Dangerous, Book 9) (Paperback)
Suzanne Brockmann once again brings us back to visit those Tall, Dark and Dangerous Navy Seals of hers. This time the story is about gorgeous Navy Seal Luke O'Donlan. Let me just say that if you can get past the horrible, awful, Good Humor cover then you will love this book. After a night out at the movies, journalist Sydney Jameson comes home to find a man running down the stiars, her neighbors apartment door ajar and crying from inside. Going in to investigate, Sydney finds her neighbor has just been brutally raped. Luke O'Donlan is angry when he find out that some journalist is pointing the finger at Navy Seals and urging women to stay away. He is determined to find the rapist and clear the Navy's name. When he is assigned the investigation he is dismayed to find that he has to work with mousy sharp-tounged Sydney. Two people could not be such opposites. Lucky is handsome in the extreme, Sydney is marginally pretty and unsure of herself. But when Sydney and Lucky meet firecrackers ignite. After several weeks without a lead and another brutal rape Lucky and Sydney are at their wits end. Finally they come up with the idea that Sydney will pose as Luke's girlfriend to try to draw the rapist out and after her. Luke and Sydney are continually drawn to eachother, but could the handsomist man in the Navy Seals (if not possibly all of California) be attracted to Sydney. The answer is YES! If you enjoyed all the other Navy Seals books, Get Lucky is sure to please.

The Seals find their reputation in jeopardy when a rapist brands his victims with something only a Seal could own. I found this to be a great mystery thread that held up. Navy Seal Lucky, or Navy Ken as journalist Sydney calls him, is assigned to find the violent rapist. Sydney is a strong character with goals in life. At the beginning, Navy Ken, who prefers Barbie like girlfriends, disappointed me, but with Sydney's influence hope may be near. Suzanne Brockmann is a great writer. Her characters are full of depth and she doesn't mind making them sound human, or taking risks with them; most of all she gives them hope and a chance to turn things around for the better. It was a smooth, attentive read all the way. I really enjoyed it.

I admit in the beginning of the book it was a little slow. However, it did keep me up all night reading. I have read most of the TDD series and loved them all. Especially Cowboy. But, Lucky and Sydney have me. This book is full of VERY unexpected surprises and when it comes to Luckys love you couldnt ask for better. This book is a must have. One of the best parts about it is it shows the union and friendship that all of the Alpha Squads family has with each other. Very pleased with the turnout of everyone, my only regret is I dont know what happened after the series ended. We all want to know Did any of them have kids. I loved Lucky and I hope you eill enjoy it also.

I first read the story of Cowboy Jones and got hooked on Suzanne Brockmann. Since then I have been searching desperately for the older books, but when I found Got Lucky...who cares about any others! This book was EXCELLENT. Like the others below, I don't know what that cover was about, but everything inside it was wonderful.Suzanne is one of the (few) romance authors today who can write about many different characters and give each a distinct personality. Her Navy Seals could all be carbon-copy, Ken-doll perfect soldiers, but each is unique. The only similarity between her characters is that they are all strong, determined people. I am jumping from here right to Suzanne's website (suzannebrockmann.com) to search for information about reprints of her books--especially since the ugly cover is just about to fall off my copy from being read so many times.

Get Lucky by Suzanne Brockmann
Silhouette Intimate Moments # 991- March 2000 Luke aka Lucky has movie star looks and knows he's a magnet to women. He's been assigned to a special Navy / Local Police task force to find a serial rapist who leaves clues that indicate he may be a SEAL. Sydney is a freelance investigative journalist. Her neighbour is a victim of a brutal rape. Sydney pieces together that this isn't a one time thing, and that there may be a serial rapist out there. Using that power, she manages to get herself assigned as part of the task force. She's hoping this will be her big break to getting that fantastic job with a New York magazine. Lucky's not very pleased that Sydney's been placed with him and his SEALs, but soon he grows to admire her; not only for her investigation skills but because she's not one of those women who swoons when he walks in the room. We've gotten to know Lucky quite well through the earlier TD&D books. He's the playboy who will never settle down. Until he meets Sydney who doesn't seem to fall for his charms. She's smart and sexy and Lucky can't seem to stay away from her. The sparks fly in this one!

I thought I would NEVER find a fantasy couple that I liked more than Mel and Cowboy in Everyday Average Jones, so I did not read any more of the TDD series. But I was very wrong...fell head over heels with Syd and Luke...I couldn't read fast enough. PLEASE Suzanne..don't seperate us from our fantastic SEAL men and their women...we need more!

Suzanne has another hit!,
This review is from: Get Lucky (Tall, Dark & Dangerous, Book 9) (Paperback)
This is another example of the talent that this writer exhibits every time one of her books is published. I own the whole series to date. (Lucky Me!) And it isn't over yet according to the author who has a newsletter you can subscribe to. Just e-mail her a note asking her to add you to her list. HER E-MAIL address is SFTHQ@aol.com. Once again in this book we have a strong character heroine who is able to match the heroics of the SEAL hero and come off still appearing as feminine as a beauty queen. Whether she is or not has no bearing on Lucky's opinion as he is totally absorbed in his love for Sydney, the woman he plans to seduce but ends up needing, not just wanting to marry, which is a surprise to him. By the way Suz was more upset than anyone about the cover, which should have pictured the hero as a movie star idol type. I predict that Ms. Brockmann will be on the Best Sellers list one day soon. This series is just a beginning as she is testifying to by her new book THE UNSUNG HERO! Another seal series begins!
