A charming, heartwarming book based on a true story introduces the official dog of North Carolina to children... and to adults who love children's books I gave a copy of this book to the children (5 and 7) of a friend of mine. They both loved it. It would be a terrific gift for chidren anywhere, but particularly those in NC or who have roots here.

Our family really enjoyed this book about a very lucky Plott Hound rescued by her current owner and author of the book, Libby Bagby. We were very fortunate to actually meet Lucky, who is the figure of the story. He is indeed a beautiful, loving dog and fill our hearts with joy. Our three-year old daughter loves the story and the illustrations. The hidden animals provides plenty of interaction between parent and child. We recommend this to anyone who enjoys a heart-warming story about a love for animals. Thank you Libby for writing this book!

Loved this book so much, I ordered one for each of my nieces and nephews for Christmas. Such a wonderful sweet story!

Libby Bagby has written a tale of love about her rescued Plott Hound, LUCKY. This wonderfully illustrated book will intrigue children and adults who will enjoy sharing this delightful edition together.

Although the beginning of LUCKY'S PLOTT is a fictional account of "Battle Cry" and his fellow Plotts, the "plot" is a true tale of a Plott Hound's rescue story. The facts are quite accurate to the traits of Plott breed thanks to extensive research by the author. She became very interested to know more about North Carolina's state dog after she and her huband rescued "Lucky;, so much so, that she wanted to share his "tale" by writing his picture book "biography" for the enjoyment of all dog lovers.
Many of the illustrations by Heidi Carr are from actual photographs from Plott owners, as well as, actual scenes from the vet in Low Gap, North Carolina, where Lucky was discovered to be a Plott Hound. Young readers will be interested in finding the many animals hidden in the colorful settings in this picture book.

We are all lucky enough to have Libby Bagby's, LUCKY'S PLOTT. This title will enrich the fourth grade curriculum with a touching story of North Carolina's state dog, the Plott Hound. This lively book also includes a glossary with historic pictures and those of Lucky's own family.

Highly recommended for classroom and library collections, as well as, family read-alouds.

I loved the story and the artwork and gave it as a gift to my niece on her first trip to North Carolina. My mother, who is NOT a dog lover, read it and loved it, too.

Lucky's Plott is a delightful story - for all ages! Being new to North Carolina, I read about the state dog and this children's publication and thus bought it for both the grandparents and the grandchild. Our granddaughter has enjoyed it numerous times and chooses it regularly for her bed time story when she overnights at our home.

We actually met Lucky at a local festival recently and were delighted to know that Lucky is lucky in another respect. In addition to being rescued several years ago, Lucky now has a delightful owner/author who introduces her to admirers around the state.

The book was great!!! Libby Bagby, the author has done an excellant job with this book, especially with the hunting aspect.Thanks for a job well done showcasing the Plott breed!

This is such a heartwarming tale of love--the incredibly strong love of two human beings for a severely injured, abandoned plott hound left to die on the side of the road, and how this same love actually brings the dog back around. I very much enjoyed reading this wonderful book and turning each new page to view the colorful, realistic pictures. I have read this book to children ages 2-6 in a preschool Bible study class, and the children just fell in love with the book, asking to "read" it again and again!

Lucky's Plott is a heart warming tale of a rescue dog who has become a family member and is loved by all who get the pleasure of meeting him. His owner, and author of this book, is a career teacher who is now retired but is using her skill and knowledge to spread the joy of reading, while inserting some learning, into a new profession as an author. The book is written from the heart and is excellently illustrated. In addition to reading the book, I have met the author and the dog, both of which are delightful. I have visited a school to observe a presentation and it was joyous to see the children's reactions to the story and the dog.
