A really great Debut!,

I was a huge fan of this band's original 5-song CD, it really captured an originality with their sound. As for this follow-up CD, I think it rarely misses its mark. Most of the songs have that sporatic feel to them that I truly enjoy w/ interesting lyrics. My biggest problem is the production effort, it seems as though they did not have that well of a engineer producing the album alongside w/ them. Regardless, the CD is a resounding success! Great new band and great summer album!

I saw these guys when they opened for The Fall of Troy, and ever since then, I have loved them. Truly great band.

More people need to hear about this band, or at the very least this band deserves a lot more attention. This album's definitely removed from the "norm" which is always good and surprisingly rare. The lyrics and music sound fresh and creative. It's not very often that you come across an album where you can listen to the whole thing without wanting to skip a track. It's just good quality music all around.

I consider myself a fan of "good" music. However, I never knew about this genre until a friend made me attend a concert. There were 3 other bands performing and I was mesmerized by EOTC....completely blown away. The band brings such energy, enthusiasm and variety to the performance. I purchased the CD and was equally pleased. The lyrics mean something different everytime I hear them. In the day time I am a professional, 30 year old in the medical field. However, I play this CD all the time and have never tired. The religious and medical undertones speak way beyond the 21 years of the lead singer/songwriter Ryan Hunter. EOTC...I say BRAVO to you guys.

This Cd of Envy on the Coast sounded quite different compare to their first "Envy on the Coast" EP release. This CD has more break beats into it, and more piano parts into it. I am not saying this CD is bad, it sounds very good, and I listen to it quite often but if you have listened to this band's previous E.P. cd, this cd will surely sound different. The advantage of this cd's break beats is that it kind of want to make you to dance, much rather than mosh. So that is good. The downfall to a straight guy like me, I sometimes feel like a middle school girl listening to this cd that's why I rate it a four. But the experience is awesome lol

Judging by the sound of this CD you instantly hear great musicians. The song writing on this record stands out the most, but as a first LP release the music should stand out just as much as the song writing; and music seemed to be missing from the CD and is replaced with "(X) amount of Truth" and "I'm Breathing...Are You Breathing Too?". The first half of the CD balances abrasive music mixed with alternative melodic sounds. This is for someone who wants to hear something against conventional music. The second half of the album sounds more like songs that were demo versions, and would be better if polished and finalized with more music and time put into it. Listening to the album you simply want to hear more vocals and piano from Sal. The production also takes away from the music. Brilliant songs like "Tell Them That She's Not Scared" and "Mirrors" have the background vocals not mixed high enough with strange effects over it, and the vocals are doubled a lot of times. Over all this is one of my favorite new bands, and you will find more originality in this band compared to anything you will hear on the radio; but at the same time it's very rough and dry, and people will mistake that for a CD that "slows up", but it's really a CD that goes against the grain. I suggest "Lucy Gray" for people that want to hear astonishing song writing with a raw element of music. Over all the album is playful but if this band puts the effort into a CD that they put into touring and how they sound live, we should expect their second LP to be their "OK Computer" of albums for them.

Wow. This Cd completely blew me away. A whole new sound, since their self-titled EP. I saw this band and warped tour this year in St. Louis. Amazing performance. I also met these guys and they were very cool guys. From the first track on the CD, it sucks you in like a good book.
