Julian Lennon puts out his first release in almost a decade. "Lucy" is a tribute to the girl that inspired The Beatles' "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds", even though some wags still feel that it was LSD. Here's the proof: a reproduction of the original drawing by Julian Lennon is included with the disc and in some cases, Julian's autograph. My copy unfortunately did not have the autograph. As for the music, it is very pleasant and open to repeat listenings. However, those pining for the John Lennonish-type vocals that graced Julian's first couple of albums will be sorely disappointed. Julian has a fine singing voice, but no longer any of the nasal quality that his father had. Overall, not the best material Julian has ever done, but far from the worst.

As far as the greater cause is concerned, the real Lucy died recently of Lupus and royalties from this release will be donated to Lupus research.

James Scott Cook & Julian Lennon did a wonderful job on this EP. I love the song "Lucy" and can't get it out of my head. Both the full band version & acoustic version are just fantastic. I am in the belief that if a music artist can play an excellent acoustic version of their song, then it shows just how talented they truly are. And they did just that. In my opinion, both are very talented musicians & music writers.

The additional two songs on the EP, "Sober", which will be on James Scott Cook's album due out this year, & "Beautiful" by Julian Lennon, are also just wonderful.

If you love 80's music, which I have been noticing the 80's sound is coming back, you will definitely love James Scott Cook's, "Sober". It's written with an 80's style but with a fresh, modern sound. Hearing both "Lucy" & "Sober" I am definitely going to get a copy of his new album when it's released.

Julian Lennon's "Beautiful", which will be on his upcoming album, "Everything Changes" due out this spring, is just that...beautiful. I absolutely love it! Julian has really matured in his writing abilities as each album just keeps getting better and better. Therefore, I'm really looking forward to his new album as well. His album "Photograph Smile" is definitely one of my favorite albums by anyone & I have a feeling "Everything Changes" will also be added to that list.

This is definitely worth the purchase, not only for the great music, but also because the proceeds are going for a great cause. The money is being donated to The Lupus Foundation of America & The St. Thomas Lupus Trust in the UK to aid in Lupus research.

I bought this EP CD because I wanted to see the drawing that inspired "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" an unbelieveable song!

To my pleasant surprise these are really good songs. But the jewell is "Beautiful"

I have listened to the song at least 10 times in just 1/2 day. What a great melody. I cannot believe that this did not get any airplay! This song is really really powerful. I am curious who he wrote it for ... his mother, his absent father?

I highly recommend this EP. Plus some of the money goes to a good cause.

Julian Lennon, the son of John Lennon and Cynthia Lennon, teams up with James Scott Cook on this brief but very well done EP; we get 18 minutes of excellent music. Both Julian and James are in excellent form all throughout their songs; and I agree with the reviewers who comment that there is that `80s flavor to this music. Unfortunately, my own copy of this album didn't come with Julian's autograph; but the artwork with the replication of young Julian's "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" is good to have in my collection. In addition, the quality of the sound is quite good.

The studio version of "Lucy" by Julian Lennon and James Scott Cook starts off the EP; this number sounds terrific! I love it. The melody, beat and lyrics combine to make this a catchy song that I won't forget anytime soon. I really like "Sober" by James Scott Cook; he sings this without ever letting go of a superfluous note and I'm very impressed; the musical arrangement makes good use of the guitars and percussion, too. "Sober" is followed by the acoustic version of "Lucy" and it's interesting to compare the two versions of "Lucy." Both versions are beautiful to hear in their own way. The EP concludes with the incredibly poignant, memorable "Beautiful" written by Julian Lennon and Greg Clewly; this nicely showcases their talents and Julian sings this faultlessly.

Fans of both Julian Lennon and James Scott Cook should consider this to be a must-have for their collections; it's also a good starting point for people just discovering these two artists. I highly recommend this music. Moreover, it's good to know that some of the proceeds from the sale of this EP go to fund research in the fight against Lupus, an illness that eventually claimed the life of the real-life Lucy.

I have to say that even IF I didn't receive an autographed copy in either of the two "Lucy" discs I purchased, I am not disappointed in the least. It truly makes me kick into anticipation mode as I look forward to the spring 2010 release of Julian's next album. This short EP is well worth the $6 spent to enjoy both versions of "Lucy", plus the 2 additional tracks. Julian has surely teamed with a fascinating and gifted musical collaborator in James Cook. The two "other" songs have a warmth and yet a kick to them that indeed make you look forward, not backwards as some would be tempted to do, unfairly, and unwisely.
