This is an outstanding live recording made in Berlin during a concert series sponsored by the Nobel Prize winning group, the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (provided the Univerasity of Maryland Chorus - directed by Dr. Paul Traver) and Musicians Against Nuclear Arms (provided an all star orchestra from all over Europe many of whom performed a year later in Bernstein's Berlin Beethoven's #9). The cd was produced and released at the final concert (of 4 done in 5 days) in London on July 6th, 1988 at Royal Albert Hall. This recording is one of Dorati's best and was his last performance, recording, trip to the podium as he passed away in the Fall of 1988. The recording, made at the Philharmonie in Berlin, has the feel of a live concert as it was and has a brief excerpt of a rehearsal session with the orchestra at the end so the listener can get a feel for Dorati the man as well as the outstanding soloists (who also volunteered their time for concert tour (repeated in Dresden - Semper Oper, and Moscow - Tschaikovsky Hall) and the Maryland Chorus at it pinnacle of excellence.
