Book Description

Crecy Illustrated August 30, 2002
Operating from as far south as the Mediterranean to as far north as the Arctic Circle, from Russia to the coasts of France and Spain, the Luftwaffe's sea and float planes developed a loyal following that continues to this day. With nearly 250 previously unpublished photographs gleaned largely from private collections, the book presents a fascinating pictorial account of the aircraft from the 1930s through World War II. These rare and unusual photographs are accompanied by extended captions and commentary as well as each aircraft's operational service on various fronts of the war. Aircraft types covered include the Arado 196, Blohm und Voss 222, Heinkel 115, Junkers, and Dornier. This treasure trove of images will be enjoyed by historians and modelers alike.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing effort, November 13, 2002
By A Customer
This book is simply a collection of photographs reproduced on low quality paper. Though many photos are unpublished and a few are genuinely interesting, there is not enough here to make the book worth the cover price. The addition of a well-written history of German seaplane development and color profiles would greatly improve this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent photographic collection..., August 10, 2005
although not long on operational histories of the aircraft covered...a definite 'must' for anyone interested in this subject. comprehensive of this era..i only had hoped for detailed schematics/3-view and/or cutaways of the aircraft covered. overall...very impressive collection.
