This review is from: Luigi Bormioli Duo 12-Ounce Double Old-Fashioned Glasses, Set of 4 (Kitchen)
I recently received 8 of these glasses, and am generally quite pleased with them. They're sturdy, feel good in the hand, don't sweat or heat up excessively, and look quite cool. All of them except the one that isn't properly sealed on the bottom.

These things are blown glass, and on the bottom of each is the spot where the blowing tube connected to the glass when it was made. In one of the glasses, the hot malleable glass did not fuse together around the hole when the tube was detached, and so left a pinhole in the bottom of the glass. This doesn't affect the performance of the glass, but it did allow dirty detergent water to enter the inside space of the glass when it went through the dishwasher... after baking the glass at 200F overnight the dirty water was evaporated out, but it left dried detergent and dishwater residue inside the glass that will be impossible to get out. I'm going to write to Bormioli to see about getting a replacement, since their offices are located in my neck of the woods.

2.0 out of 5 stars very fragile, November 21, 2007

These glasses are made of very thin glass and break very easily. I have even had glasses break when dispensing ice from the refrigerator. Three of the glasses have broken and I have only had them for a few months. I have had other sets of glasses for years and never broken one. The double wall seems to work well but these are definitely not worth the money when they break so easily.

I got these instead of the Bodum version since I heard these were less brittle. I am just using them as regular drinking glasses, instead of old fashioned glasses. They are pretty nice, and they do have a lip to some extent at the top.

They're not the most elegant of designs, but the function they serve is excellent. Cold Drinks stay cold, a glass of ice takes around 5 to 6 hours to melt fully. Hot drinks don't last quite as long (as can be expected since hot air rises), and the sides of the glass do feel warm, but not hot by any means.

---Update, something over a year later, maybe two, I forget how long it's been now.

I still own 4 of these in perfect working order. I use one in my office daily which is hand cleaned, and the other three at home which are put in the dishwasher on the top shelf.

Perhaps I handle my dishes more gently than the rest of folk, or perhaps the set of 4 that I received were exceptional. At any rate, they are still good and I still enjoy them.
