I recently received 8 of these glasses, and am generally quite pleased with them. They're sturdy, feel good in the hand, don't sweat or heat up excessively, and look quite cool. All of them except the one that isn't properly sealed on the bottom.
These things are blown glass, and on the bottom of each is the spot where the blowing tube connected to the glass when it was made. In one of the glasses, the hot malleable glass did not fuse together around the hole when the tube was detached, and so left a pinhole in the bottom of the glass. This doesn't affect the performance of the glass, but it did allow dirty detergent water to enter the inside space of the glass when it went through the dishwasher... after baking the glass at 200F overnight the dirty water was evaporated out, but it left dried detergent and dishwater residue inside the glass that will be impossible to get out. I'm going to write to Bormioli to see about getting a replacement, since their offices are located in my neck of the woods.

These glasses are made of very thin glass and break very easily. I have even had glasses break when dispensing ice from the refrigerator. Three of the glasses have broken and I have only had them for a few months. I have had other sets of glasses for years and never broken one. The double wall seems to work well but these are definitely not worth the money when they break so easily.

I got these instead of the Bodum version since I heard these were less brittle. I am just using them as regular drinking glasses, instead of old fashioned glasses. They are pretty nice, and they do have a lip to some extent at the top.
They're not the most elegant of designs, but the function they serve is excellent. Cold Drinks stay cold, a glass of ice takes around 5 to 6 hours to melt fully. Hot drinks don't last quite as long (as can be expected since hot air rises), and the sides of the glass do feel warm, but not hot by any means. ---Update, something over a year later, maybe two, I forget how long it's been now. I still own 4 of these in perfect working order. I use one in my office daily which is hand cleaned, and the other three at home which are put in the dishwasher on the top shelf. Perhaps I handle my dishes more gently than the rest of folk, or perhaps the set of 4 that I received were exceptional. At any rate, they are still good and I still enjoy them.

cheapest glasses ever. Weaker than paper,

These glasses should be classified as health hazards. Simply knocking them on their sides will break them--leaving sharp glass shards everywhere. One of my cups also developed condensation between the layers. Save your money and buy some better made ones instead.

Picture Justice,
This review is from: Luigi Bormioli Duo 12-Ounce Double Old-Fashioned Glasses, Set of 4 (Kitchen)
It seems to me that the picture of the cups does them a lot more justice. Once I received the cups, the novelty wore off. They feel like cheap plastic and even tapping the glass sounds like i'm tapping a plastic cup. My wife complained that the glasses are too wide for her small hands. I would not repurchase given the option. Some of the glasses seem to sweat (build up condensation) on the inside. This gives the appearance that the cup is not dry and looks dirty. There is no way to get the water out from the inside. It'll stay like that for a very long time. I guess the only way to remove it is using the heat dry option in a dishwasher, I have not tried it.

great looking, more durable than they look, don't stack well,

These glasses look great and the double wall design keeps beverages at temperature without hot drinks burning your hands or cold drinks sweating and ruining tables. The glass is very thin and they look like they would shatter at the slightest touch. Because they are made of borosilicate glass they are much more durable than they look. Using borosilicate allows them to be extremely light but reasonably durable. Because of their flared shape they don't stack very well. They fit inside each other just enough to be stable but stack best inside the larger Luigi Bormioli Duo 16-Ounce Beverage Glasses, Set of 4

Love these glasses! Light weight, durable, and they don't sweat. Plus they look nice on the table. Everyone who uses them at our house wants to know where to get them!

We live in the south and drinks warm up really fast and also the glass sweats. These double walled glasses are perfect as your drink stays cold longer and absolutely no sweating on the outside.

Firstly, these glasses do an excellent job keeping beverages warmer / colder for longer periods. This is where it starts to go downhill. I purchased four 16oz glasses in 10/09. I have used these glasses daily, and are carefully hand-washed and air-dried. Of the 4 glasses, 2 have broken in the sink when it tipped over and landed on its side. Grant you, while doing the dishes, I should've gently laid these on its side instead of upright, but the slightest bump or impact on the thin side-wall, can shatter the glass quite easily. Although the glasses are hand-washed in hot water and naturally air-dried, the two remaining glasses are starting to develop condensation between the 2 glass walls. The remaining (intact) glasses still do a great job insulating beverages but unfortunately, the fragile nature of these glasses outweigh the benefits. Save your money.
UPDATE: 4/19/10 The fourth and final glass has finally broken (tipped over while in the sink). Unless you are totally coordinated, can reverse Newton's Law of Gravity, and have the reflexes of a mongoose, the narrow bottom will tip these over and will shatter upon impact in the sink. Total lifetime 15 months of daily use. Look for something else.

I loved these glasses however, when I purchased them I was under the impression that they were acrylic when in fact they are glass. The lines are beautiful and they are just what I wanted...classy looking drinking glasses BUT because we live in Florida, entertain outside a great deal AND have stone floors I was looking for something (in both sizes) to use everyday. Two of the four large ones are broken - one happened in the dishwasher. Really disappointed that they weren't acrylic...would have ordered two more sets to replace my horrible plastic glasses. Anyone wanting insulated glasses that are real glass will love these.
