5.0 out of 5 stars Luis Milan for Modern Minds, January 9, 2010

This review is from: Luis Milán on Sixteenth-Century Performance Practice: Luis Milan on Sixteenth-Century Performance Practice (Publications of the Early Music Institute) (Paperback)
Luis Milan is well-known among classical guitarists and enthusiasts. Here is insight into his music and the world in which he created it. It presumes that the reader has an understanding of music notation and terminology. It includes an extensive bibliography, and refers a lot to his fantasias for vihuela and his songs for vihuela and voice. While there are excerpts included in the book, having access to the scores has been helpful. I've been playing his music on the guitar and gaining insight about it through this book. I can't imagine it being beneficial in any other way.
