This review is from: Luis Milan: El Maestro (1536) - Songs & Vihuela Solos - Catherine King / Jacob Heringman (Audio CD)

Jacob Heringman is one of the world's foremost solo lute players. Born in America but based in England since 1987, he performs regularly throughout Europe, North and South America, and has also toured Japan. He has a well-established reputation for his passionate and committed performances and recordings of deserving but neglected Renaissance repertoire. His six solo recordings, of Holborne, Bakfark, Josquin, Jane Pickeringe's Lute Book, The Art of the Lute Player and the recently released Siena Lute Book, have received unanimous critical praise. He appears on over 60 CDs as collaborator and ensemble player, with renowned artists such as Barbara Bonney and Michael Chance, and with leading medieval and renaissance ensembles including Fretwork, Musicians of the Globe, The King's Singers, Virelai, and The Dufay Collective.
