4.0 out of 5 stars An example of a true entrepreneur, June 5, 2006
By
This review is from: Luke G. Williams: An American Entrepreneur : An Autobiography (Hardcover)
This book reads easily as if Luke were across the room recounting his life experiences and sharing his perspectives on business, family and politics. Those who knew Luke as I did will particularly enjoy reading and learning more about what made him the man he was. Luke's passion for free enterprise is clear and his pursuit of its values evident as he explains the motivation behind forming his companies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Father of the Electronic Sign Industry, May 9, 2008

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Luke G. Williams: An American Entrepreneur : An Autobiography (Hardcover)
I twice had the opportunity to work for Luke Williams. First, as a district sales engineer working out of the Paletine, IL office of American Sign & Indicator in the 70's, and years later as a regional sales manager at American Electronic Sign Company. As I read this book, his words brought back a lot of memories for me. Luke was a giant of a man in many ways. While he easily rubbed elbows with the high and the mighty, he also had that down to earth demeanor that made everyone like him, and that comes across well in the book. He could be a tough businessman, of course, but I don't think he was ever greedy. He certainly put America and the American worker first. Aspiring enterpreneurs can learn a lesson or two from this book. I can honestly say that I have yet to work for any other individual or company that treats their people as openly and honestly as Luke Williams did. Electronic signs may be the footnote by which history will remember him most, but his true legacy lies in the people whose lives he touched. For those of you that were never given the opportunity to meet this remarkable man, then you simply must read this book.
