A Kid's Review
This review is from: Luke on the High Seas (Hardcover)
This story first takes place in the 1800 in a small town in Iowa with a boy named Luke Reed. Luke is an adventurous boy, and he is almost afraid of nothing, one day this man named captain Andrews came to this place looking for experienced sailors to sail to California with him, and he asked his Uncle Eli to come with him. So Luke looked at his map and saw where California was decide to go with the captain. When Luke was on the ship he could almost see everything from there, it was like a dream come true for Luke, and the boats name was the Eagle.

When he was below deck it was very cold, dark, small, and very drowsy. When he was looking around, there it was his small, little bunk bed without any structure at all. The next day when he was on deck and Uncle Eli was smiling at him, and then he told Luke we need some eggs and some milk for breakfast. It got colder, and colder every single day of the year and some workers caught serious illnesses, so the died. When they saw land, pirates were chasing after them. They didn't know what to do, so there was this man on board named Mr. Browning. He didn't want to die or die by taking a risk by saving people so he had a gun and a silver pistol, and then when he was walking around Uncle Eli got him very mad. So when they were fighting there it was, uncle Eli saw it, it was the gun when he saw that gun he went straight down on his knees. Mr. Browning was sick of him so he kicked him right over the railing... SPLASH! Uncle Eli went straight into the water Luke didn't know what to do while Mr. browning was walk in away it was so much harder for him, but he couldn't bare that his uncle was dieing so he jumped straight into the water, but little did Luke know there were sharks in there.

The sharks were almost going as fast as a speeding bullet. Luke was scared, but he was in luck, there was a raft in the water. Luke jumped onto the raft; he kicked, and kicked as hard as he could to land, but the shark came closer, and closer every second he kicked. So when the shark got so close Luke kicked with all his force and the shark sunk, but on his way down the shark bit his leg. Finally they were on land they were very injured and then... if you want to find out the end read the book.

The author's name was Bonnie Pryor. I think she used very descriptive words, and I think she has a great personality. I think my friends, and family would like this book because it will improve their literature and their writing skills. So please read this book you would really like it, and if you read it until you like it.
