From the Back Cover

LUKE. In the New Testament’s longest book, Luke, the physician friend of the Apostle Paul, reveals Jesus as the Man who came to save all-including women, the poor, the outcast, the sick, and the ordinary, everyday people of every nation. Luke’s vivid, fast-moving report offers a gospel of reconciliation and celebration. This Bible study traces Luke’s story from the announcement of Jesus’ birth, through His ministry in Galilee and His training of the disciples on the way to Jerusalem, to His submission to the crucifixion and His ultimate triumph in the resurrection. LifeChange Series: Christians have a lifelong goal: to become like Christ. This involves change, and change isn’t always easy. But the more you know of God’s purposes for you, the more you can experience His joy and participate in His plan. The LifeChange Series of Bible studies on books of the Bible can help you grow in Christlikeness through a life-changing encounter with God’s Word. You’ll benefit in these important ways: 1) You’ll gain a firm understanding of the book-its historical context, purpose, structure, and meaning; 2) You’ll apply its powerful, relevant wisdom to needs and issues you are currently working through; and 3) You’ll acquire personal study skills and a thirst to return to the book on your own-so you can keep going deeper into its life-transforming truths.

4.0 out of 5 stars Luke Bible Study, May 18, 2000
By
John B. Waits (Centreville, AL USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Luke (LifeChange) (Paperback)
Having worked through several Navigators Bible Studies and read several NavPress books, I expected my first LifeChange study - Luke - to be good. On the whole I was not disappointed. The book is organized well and the chapter lengths are manageable. It approaches the book in an inductive method, similar to Precept Upon Precept studies, and for that matter, most other Navigators Bible studies. The weakest point of the book is the seemingly inevitable "dumb question" (or two) per chapter; one asking for an answer that is clearly not found in the passage in question. The strongest points of the book are: (1) the unobtrusive way in which they insert poignant insights from various commentaries (and done minimally, unlike a study Bible); (2) the super annotated reading list in the back of the book on Bible study guides in general, but especially for further study on Luke.

This review is from: Luke (Life Application Bible Commentary) (Paperback)
This is a great resource for preparing sermons on Luke, or even for just reading along while you read Luke in your own home. It's easy to read, and gives valuable insights. I'm glad I bought it.
