Stephanie Nakasian SHOULD be a household name,
By Steve Emerine (Tucson, AZ United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lullaby in Rhythm: A Tribute to June Christy (Audio CD)
Stephanie Nakasian may not be a well-known singer outside the Washington, D.C., area -- but she definitely should be. Her "Lullaby in Rhythm: A Tribute to June Christy" will please any fan of the former Stan Kenton vocalst. She's an outstanding jazz singer and handles 17 of Christy's finest tunes from her Capitol days very well. The result, thanks to her amazing voice and backup musicians like pianist Hod O'Brien, trombonist John Jensen, saxohonist Harry Allen, drummer Chuck Riggs and bassist Steve Gilmore, is a wonderful album on the V.S.O.P. label. Having discovered this CD, I'm now going to try some of her earlier efforts -- and begin educating my fellow jazz lovers about this hidden treasure.
